It is always a good idea to know when your mic is on, especially if the event is televised. However, Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO) wasn’t caught saying anything he hasn’t already said to his Colorado citizens. It’s too bad that a faulty audio situation is what gets your voice heard on the Senate floor. Is the US Senate “rigged”? It may be, at least according to one Democrat whose words of candor were picked up by a hot microphone on the Senate floor, the audio of which was broadcast live by C-Span 2 on Tuesday afternoon.
“Because — because … It’s all rigged,” Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO) said, speaking to a female colleague as fellow Senators voted. “I mean, the whole conversation is rigged,” he went on. “The fact that we don’t get to a discussion before the break about what we’re going to do in the lame duck, is just rigged. This stuff’s rigged.”

He is talking about the the democrats and their leadership. Which any sane person would know when they read it with context.

You see until Jan 2 the Senate is under the complete control of the Democrats, specifically Reid. Reid makes the rules, he runs the party. He "rigged" it so the Democrats would not discuss what would happen in the lame duck session.

Republicans run nothing in the Senate. They are unable to set the rules or "rig" anything in the Senate.

it works both ways. the party power has control over everything. when the repubs were in power under bush, they did the same thing that the dems are doing to the repub now. do i agree with it, no. do i understand it, yes. this is the way our founding fathers set up the government to work. this is also why we have an opportunity to change who we send to washington every 2 years.

the rules will never be changed, because the ruling party would never want to have power taken away from them; no matter what side of the isle you sit on.

it is interesting though, according the constitution, the speaker of the house does not have to be of the majority party, or an actual member of the house of representatives.

What's "rigged" is the dog and pony show of bipartisanship yesterday purportedly agreeing to negotiate on the tax cuts which expire at the end of next month. In less than 24 hours after all the glad-handing and smiley faces, it seems the Republican leadership was just kidding.
