Italian Subs

Thanks for the memory of growing up in South Brooklyn and Angelo's Deli. His sandwiches could make a teen-age boy forget about sex for half an hour. An Angelo "hero" and a cold bottle of Shaefer beer under a tree in Prospect Park on a hot summer afternoon was as close to heaven as it got.

Italians gave the world music and food. No equal. (And I'm not Italian.)

The Italians gave us music, food and hot Italian chicks. Their women are beautiful.

I'll go along with that and no...I'm not Italian.

Italian Sub?

Prosciutto, Sopressata, Italian Coppa, Homemade Fresh Mozzarella, on Italian bread with all the fixins....

No pics ?

Red onion rings
Banana peppers

on SF sourdough cut into a roll.
.

Do you remember the Heaven? God i miss the Heaven.

Promised FoxFyre some recipes, thought I'd share with everyone...Here's a quick one to get you started. Be back later to post more....

What You'll Need...

Soft hoagie buns, halved.
Olive oil
Sliced salami
Sliced provolone cheese
Kosher pickles sliced
Sliced tomatoes
Sliced purple/red onions
Salt and pepper to taste (optional)

Spread olive oil generously on bun and build your sub with the remaining ingredients. Salt and pepper. Serve with chips.

Then call it a hoagie, not a sub. :)

Does it really matter? It tastes the same.

Silly Anglos pretending they understand Italian food.

the above is NOT an Italian SUB.

Why?

Because it does not include THE MOST ITALIAN OF ALL ITALIAN meat...

Prosciutto

Prosciutto was the meat upon which the Roman Legions fed. It was the C-rations of the Roman legion. It was the lunchmeat that consquored the world

While I have no doubt the above will make a fine sub, it ought NOT to be called an Italian sub.

This is, incidently, one of my pet peeves.

Oh yeah one more thing?

That sugary crap that comes out of a bottle is NOT Italian spaghetti sauce.

It is ANGLO tomato sauce fit only to feed pigs (if they'll have it)
