It must be good- Black Socialist Caucus- Debt Deal Is “A Sugar-Coated Satan Sandwich”

Tip : Gateway Pundit

President Barack Obama’s rightward lurch to reach a $3 trillion deficit reduction deal with no guarantee of additional revenues had liberals fuming and Republicans all but declaring victory Sunday afternoon.

With time running out to reach an agreement to raise the debt ceiling before Tuesday’s default deadline, Obama moved dramatically in the direction of the GOP, according to Senators and aides in both parties…

…Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus, said early reports of the new deal appeared to be “a sugar-coated Satan sandwich.” The Missouri Democrat said the CBC hadn’t yet made a formal declaration that the group would oppose it, “but this is a shady bill.”

“This deal trades people’s livelihoods for the votes of a few unappeasable right-wing radicals, and I will not support it,” ripped Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.), co-chairman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, before House Democrats had even been briefed. “The lesson today is that Republicans can hold their breath long enough to get what they want.”

I think it's a shit sandwich. The debt limit is raised immediately but cuts are scheduled to be discussed in November. If at all. The cuts on the table are all things that will get put back into the budget quietly later on, like the doc fix.
The only thing the GOP got was no new taxes. That really isn't much of a victory. Details will emerge but so far I'm not feeling the love.

I'm waiting for details but I think the deal comes with the balanced budget amendment.

Not really.
The deal, as I read it, is that if they fail to make required cuts then they must vote on a balanced budget amendment. But the amendment will fail because amending the Constitution is tough. So the GOP could, and probably will, end up with nothing except no new taxes.

Is it the best deal- probably not
But the Republicans only hold one house

The fact that the Left hates it, tells us all we need to know

Kudos to the Tea Party!

It was only a few months ago Papa Obama was calling for new spending and tax increases
with some of the RINO's not far behind

They have succeeded in moving the debate

No--it's a trillion in cuts now with another 1.7 trillion to be determined by November. If the committee cannot agree on which cuts they will come automatic across the board--with the exclusion of Social Security-medicade-and military pay.

I think it's a good bill--(for starts)

DITTO--because without the tea party members in congress they would still be talking about where and how much money they are going to borrow and spend.

The discussion in Washington D.C.--has changed to how much they can cut spending and where.

Now--maybe they'll actually find all this fraud and waste in Government spending--that they've talked about for decades?--

That's a FIRST---Thank You Tea Party.

Let us hope
it is the beginning of some real "Hope and Change"

I think this is the best we are going to get with this "president" and this Senate.

On the overall principle, the GOP won. The debt is a problem, and we have to tackle entitlements. (My suggestion, stop calling them "entitlements". They aren't entitlements, they are charity.) Obama's plan to scare seniors on medicare is scuttled, as he's agreed it needs to be cut back.

What kills Obama is the economy, though.

it is not a fix for the problem, but it thwarted Obama's tax increase policy, and that will help slowdown the economic attack libs are waging on America.and come 2012 it will be another talking point to help prove Obama is an inept leader.HE DID NOT PRESENT A PLAN AND STEPPED AWAY FROM THE CRISES!!!

I think it is too squirrely and will let pols get away with fake cuts, 20 years down the road.

One realizes how fanatic Lefties really are....calling the deal a "sugar-coated satan sandwich" because they didn't get any tax increases....plus some are now calling Obama a Republican for agreeing to the deal....

hell the Bush tax cuts are disappearing real soon.....they already got their tax increases....
