It "Appears" most liberals want MORE laws.. so answer this liberals...

We need to return to a Constitutional Federal Republic, as framed. I believe Jefferson and Washington would agree along with all other original framers. The Magna Carta was a good start and the Declaration was better. All Socialist Democracies in history without exception has faded into utter oblivion.

The libs need to consider same......

All of them?

What about every "first world" country in the world today?

Good question. However, I do not know. I am not a citizen of them. I am a citizen of the United States of America. It works here, and thus, perhaps would work for them as well. And since we were an experiment unlike anything the world had tried up to that time, it may work elsewhere with the same conviction of all for one, one for all.....

You make this statement..and now "You do not know"?

How about..you were wrong.

is there ever an occasion or action that requires "personal responsibility"?

In other words is it as I assume the reason liberals OBEY any laws or regulations is because of fear of being caught?
The reason I ask is I heard on the radio this talk host say "well if they make it a law not to text and drive, I'll obey it"!

Is that the attitude of liberals, i.e. if there is NO LAW then I'll do whatever I feel like doing even though it violates the laws of physics or the laws of Karma or the Golden Rule?

In other words do MOST liberals obey laws, rules and regulations out of fear of being caught?

To take this further especially you nerdy liberals...
What minutia of rules, laws regulations did Star Trek characters follow?
I mean did the Federation have OSHA,EPA,EEOC, etc. equivalents?
Were there rules like OSHA has that says 1 water closet for every 15 employees?

Really what kind of regulatory burden did Kirk have to abide with every time he exceeded warp drive?

YOU see what I mean? In 2012 40,000 new state rules, laws, regulations went into affect.

Between 1995 and 2010, the total time spent by the public complying with federal regulations grew by 25%. Such a significant increase over the past decade and a half may well have deterred new business investment even before the 2008 financial crisis.

Over the same period, regulatory agencies’ budgets grew by 166%, according to an analysis by Susan Dudley and Melinda Warren. The increase in expenditures occurred as agencies created new rules, stepped up enforcement of existing mandates and increased staffing.

and all those laws/regulations were passed by democrats?
Republicans control no legislatures or governors offices in any state?

Shhh, right wingers don't understand that many of the laws are actually mandated by the courts. Especially safety regulations. They imagine that government is some kind of right wing conspiracy. And when they are in charge, they're right.

I dont know a single person that takes issue with safety requirements, But know many that take issue with them being politicized for crony gain.

Sometimes, when you read out loud the stuff you write down, you realize how stupid it sounds so you don't post it. Try it sometime. Read your statement out loud then see if you think it still makes enough sense.

LOTS of people text and drive, I see them when I'm out riding my bicycle in town, and they scare the fuck outta me because a 140 lb man and a 21 lb bicycle are no match for a 2,000 lb car.

Should there be a law against it? Yes, because it's dangerous and can harm others in the public arena.

But...........think about this.............WHY is it that we need a law for that? Simple actually, as cell phones with texting ability didn't exist 10 years ago, they do now.

We didn't have driving laws until Henry Ford put a car in almost every garage, but then again, before that, we didn't NEED them, we do now.

And finally, comparing a real life scenario to Star Trek is just fucking stupid.

If you say so.

Sallow.

One does grow weary trying to discuss reality with people whose sense of reality is based on cherished myths, isn't it?

Really sometimes it seems like we're sharing the board with people whose grasp of history stopped in about third grade.

I'd like the OP to prove that it's only liberals who want laws against texting while driving.

I DIDN"T SAY ONLY Liberals !

AGAIN in case you don't remember:
I wrote IT "APPEARS" DIDN'T SAY IT WAS A FACT!!!
That MOST Liberals ... NOT ALL! NOT ONLY... but Most !!!

But you continue to reinforce my contention that MOST liberal/progressives
a) don't have enough smarts to nuance between "MOST" or "Appears" but as
generally wont to do JUMP to conclusions.. use hyperbole... EXAGGERATE!!!

I didn't say ONLY liberals also!
THERE are far fewer NON-Liberals who favor MORE laws though as MOST NON-Liberals are GENERALLY more adult and understand Personal responsibility then Liberals!

Finally.. Laws are meant for law breakers!
People who frequently break laws do so out of DISRESPECT for people.
People who text and drive AGAIN.. while NOT breaking a LAW are totally ignorant of
the physics involved in stopping a 30 mph car for example.

YES common sense should dictate our behaviors AND COMMON SENSE can be taught!

I mean trillons of dollars and hours are spent in schools, advertising govt. on global warming! So why not spend that on teaching the practical aspects of physical laws!

If you and your global warming evangelicals were to take that same fervor and apply towards the practical teaching of for example showing how long it takes to stop a car!
Advertising works why else almost $500 billion a year spent?

Common sense CAN be taught and to dismiss it as a "myth" is just as ignorant!

MY point is there will NEVER BE ENOUGH cops on the corners!
SO why not teach from pre-school self responsibility? Why NOT teach "common sense"!
I mean come on.. when we have to put on a hairdryer warning label.. "don't use while sleeping" ??? It is time WE TAUGHT common sense!

What's your evidence liberals, more than conservatives, want laws against texting?
