Azerbaijan like Israel, the US, the Gulf Arabs and Turkey have national security interests in preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. It is highly unlikely that the Iranian regime, crazy though it is, would retaliate against Azerbaijan. With the sanctions in place, Iran's economy is critically vulnerable to attacks against its oil refineries, fuel storage tanks or oil export terminals. While the sanctions remain in place Iran will never be more than a few missiles away from seeing its economy grind to a halt.
