JENIN, (PIC)-- Former minister of prisoners' affairs Wasfi Qabha said the renewed kidnapping of Palestinian lawmakers and officials from Hamas Movement over the past week was an Israeli attempt to derail the national reconciliation.

"There is no doubt that the occupation was the sole beneficiary of the Palestinian political and geographical division, so it sees any rapprochement or reconciliation as detrimental to its policies and strategies that are based on the denial of the Palestinian people's rights," Qabha said in a press statement to the Palestinian information center (PIC).

He stressed that Israel wants to eliminate all Palestinian leaders who influence and partake in the Palestinian decision-making from the Palestinian political arena and obstruct the work of the Palestinian legislative council.
