Interesting article from Charles Hurt.

Surveying the live minefields, cratered roads and mortar-pocked concrete buildings along the border here between Syria and Israel, it is hard not to be reminded of the historic and monumental disappointment President Obama has been.

When he was campaigning to become the most powerful man in the last standing superpower on Earth, he spoke passionately about changing the world, restoring America’s greatness and bringing more peace and fairness to everyone.

In both foreign and domestic matters, Mr. Obama had unique credibility to change things as few presidents ever had.

Despite his background as a liberal street organizer, he campaigned on tax cuts and personal responsibility and preached that the government simply cannot be the answer to every problem. Republicans would have no choice but to go along with an agenda to shrink the tax burden and get the federal government out of our everyday lives.

Instead, Mr. Obama has devoted his administration to raising taxes, adding to the byzantine structure of the federal government, and has created a whole new massive bureaucracy he claims really will cure our every little boo-boo.

As for the rest of the world, Mr. Obama promised to devote himself to healing the grave injustices and halting the atrocities that have afflicted the world since the rise of radical, violent jihadism. With his Muslim roots, Mr. Obama was positioned better than any leader on the global stage to speak with authority to radical Islamists and finally bring about permanent peace.

Instead, Mr. Obama chose to unilaterally alienate perhaps our most strategically important ally in the world and do all he can to cozy up to the very people who are dedicated to destroying not only Israel, but America as well.

Leading Democrats have been in the news lately sliming Americans who stick up for Israel as being “Israel Firsters.” Well, Mr. Obama has become an “Islamist Firster.”

yes poor Israel is down the crapper due to 6 bilion in aid and Obama is the reason

Wow you are as dumb as a box of rocks. Israel isn't in any danger of folding any time soon. In fact she is only getting stronger and stronger. She is the only 1st world, industrialized democracy in the region. You can't say the same for her revivals.

  • Syria: ASSSSad's death machine is getting weaker by the day and will fall soon. No matter who or what takes over they won't be as much a threat to Israel as ASSSad was. When he falls the SUNNIs that will take over have already stated that Shia Iran and Shia Hezbollah are their enemy.
  • Hezbollah: Hezbollah will be in trouble without Syria. The Sunni Syrians will side with the Sunni Lebanese fraction that is the majority in Lebanon and the enemy of Hezbollah. The arms from Syria will flow to the Sunnis (that used to flow to Hezbollah) and they might even militarily attack Hezbollah.
  • Iran: Iran's Islamist government is hanging on by a thread. Their grip on power is very weak and no fraudulent election will save them. They will also lose an allie in Syria and in Lebanon when Hezbollah folds. The Obama/EU oil and gas sanctions will only increase the pressure.
  • PLO: PLO is hanging by a thread, the only thing keeping them alive and in power in the Judea and Samaria is Israel.
  • Hamas: Hamas is getting weaker. Syria is not an allie anymore. Iran is about to cut them off. Turkey nor Jordan won't allow them to set up base in their country. No one in Gaza is happy with their Islamist Iron Fist rule. They used to be a terrorist organization whose only job was attacking Israeli civilians. Now that they took over Gaza they have the added responsibility of taking care of the Gazans or face the rath of angry subjects. They are failing miserable on that front! When the Iranian and Syrian dollars dry up they are toast.

The only regional "adversary" that is doing very well is Turkey. However, adversary is a misguided characterization. Decades of strong ties have lead to dependent and strong economic ties. Even though the diplomatic relationship btw the two countries is at a low point, the economic and trade ties are at their highest point in history. Exports to Turkey are up 40% and exports to Israel are up 30%.

Lastly, the propaganda that Obama is antiIsrael or not a friend to Israel is political hogwash.

(1) Obama hasn't stopped the military aid.
(2) Obama hasn't imposed any sanctions and FIGHTS them if presented with them.
(3) He defends Israel in Europe.
(4) Obama has protected Israel in the antiUN.
(5) Obama has pushed sanctions on Iran and has taken a strong stance against them.
(6) Obama stated in ISLAMIC COUNTRIES that the bond btw American and Israel is unshakable.
(7) Obama has provided funds for the Iron Dome.
(8) Imports from Israel have increased under Obama.
(9) Obama is killing terrorist and fighting the war on terror with vigor.
(10) He has sold high tech military warplanes to Israel and is committed to Israel's military tech edge.

So Obama talks bad about the so-called "Settlements," well in this PC antisemitic world he needs to in order to save face around the world, esp the antisemitic Saudis and Europeans. He is not bad for Israel. He is bad for America and the American economy and that is what we need to care about!

So Please Stop Pelting The Obama AntiIsrael Propaganda!!!

First, that's not an "'article". Its an op/ed piece.

It was kinda hard to implement anything with this going on.

Mitch McConnell Fox News | Obama One Term President | Video | Mediaite

I only recall him suggesting that we need go back to the pre-President Bush tax rates for the folks making over 200,000 a year.

On Israel? Really?

I'm amazed at the amount of insta-commentary out there suggesting that the President has proposed something radical and new by declaring that Israel's 1967 borders should define -- with land-swaps -- the borders of a Palestinian state. I'm feeling a certain Groundhog Day effect here. This has been the basic idea for at least 12 years. This is what Bill Clinton, Ehud Barak and Yasser Arafat were talking about at Camp David, and later, at Taba. This is what George W. Bush was talking about with Ariel Sharon and Ehud Olmert. So what's the huge deal here? Is there any non-delusional Israeli who doesn't think that the 1967 border won't serve as the rough outline of the new Palestinian state?

A bigger deal: President Obama's call for a phased withdrawal of Israeli forces from the West Bank following an agreement. Prime Minister Netanyahu wants to keep a residual force in the Jordan Valley (as does the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, which won't admit this publicly). The key here is the word "phased," which could mean anything. Israel could keep troops in the valley for 10 years after an agreement.

A much bigger deal: Obama's forthright denunciation of the unilateral Palestinian plan to seek the General Assembly's endorsement this September of statehood. Also a big deal: The President's statement that the Hamas-Fatah pact "raises profound and legitimate questions for Israel -- how can one negotiate with a party that has shown itself unwilling to recognize your right to exist? In the weeks and months to come, Palestinian leaders will have to provide a credible answer to that question." This doesn't sound like a radical departure from long-term American policy. Or even a mild departure.

Provide $30 billion over 10 years to Israel
The Promise:

"Implement a Memorandum of Understanding that provides $30 billion in assistance to Israel over the next decade -- investments to Israel's security that will not be tied to any other nation."

how soon we forget.....Obama has been anti-Israel from the first...certainly not a real friend.....here is a list of examples....pretty hard to say he was ever "pro-Israel_...
Barack Obama

of course on the obvious main issues Obama has been toeing the line because America is and has always been pro-Israel....it would not sit well with America if he was overtly against Israel.....

.....let's not forget he is up for reelection this year.....of course he is out once again to fool all those Jewish voters located in Florida....a state he needs to carry....

...who knows what he will do if he wins a second 4 years....?

He is arrogant no doubt. He has been far more insulting to Britian. However, those minor missteps aren't anything considering what he has done for the positive. Is he the best US President to Israel? Nope, but he still the BY FAR the best leader in the world when it comes to Israel!
