RAMALLAH,(PIC)-- The Islamic bloc's students, who remain in sit-in at Birzeit University campus for more than two weeks, threatened to go on an open hunger strike if the PA arrest and persecution campaigns against them does not stop.

Said Kasrawi, the protesters' spokesman, said, in a press conference held at the campus, that the PA security agencies violated their commitment not to arrest or summon students for their political or student union activities.

He stated that the PA intelligence had arrested, after the Islamic bloc's participation on 15th March in a march in solidarity with the prisoners' strike, two of the Islamic bloc leaders who were subjected to interrogation for their Islamic bloc activities in support of the prisoners' strike and their participation in the recent Student Council elections.

Kasrawi added that PA intelligence threatened 15 students of the Islamic bloc at Birzeit University with arrest if they came out of the campus, which led the students to sit-in.
