Depends on the precursors. Sarin, for example, may only have a shelf life for a couple weeks.
In fact, I remember reading some scientist speaking out against the Iraq war and said the weapons they were looking for were already expired.. That was in 2003 or 4.
They found a bunch of WMDs in Iraq and the military said they weren't usable. Even though the soldiers handling them got sick.. IDK

Sadddam had no chemical weapons, as the U.S. finally concluded. ISIS have their own chemical weapons manufacturing plants, with the capability of manufacturing Sarin.

"The US has bombarded an ISIS chemical weapons plant that was housed in a converted Iraqi pharmaceutical factory, a top Air Force commander said Tuesday...."

Our military found WMDs in Iraq.

It's amazing how many people believe the fake news. You truly believe that WMDs were found in Iraq, don't you. Propaganda is so damn effective with dummies.

A U.S. soldier of the 3rd Brigade, 66th Regiment, of the 4th Infantry Division guards an underground ammunition storage bunker near Tikrit, Iraq, on Sept. 1, 2003. U.S. forces found ample supplies of conventional weapons such as these, but no weapons of mass destruction.

CIA's final report: No WMD found in Iraq

WASHINGTON — In his final word, the CIA’s top weapons inspector in Iraq said Monday that the hunt for weapons of mass destruction has “gone as far as feasible” and has found nothing, closing an investigation into the purported programs of Saddam Hussein that were used to justify the 2003 invasion.

“After more than 18 months, the WMD investigation and debriefing of the WMD-related detainees has been exhausted,” wrote Charles Duelfer, head of the Iraq Survey Group, in an addendum to the final report he issued last fall.

“As matters now stand, the WMD investigation has gone as far as feasible.”

In 92 pages posted online Monday evening, Duelfer provides a final look at an investigation that occupied over 1,000 military and civilian translators, weapons specialists and other experts at its peak. His latest addenda conclude a roughly 1,500-page report released last fall."

no---------even baking powder degrades. But people who make the stuff
know how to store it or its COMPONENTS in a manner to retard degradation

LOL from your own link:

"The munitions addressed in the report were produced in the 1980s, Maples said. Badly corroded, they could not currently be used as originally intended, Chu added."

If it can't be used as a weapon, it isn't a weapon. The weapons inspectors were aware of the unuseable degraded chemical weapons that were left in place. It's safer and less expensive to leave such material in place.

The existence of aging chemical weapons in Iraq was never the justification for Bush’s invasion, nor was it a secret.

  • "Saddam Husayn ended the nuclear program in 1991 following the Gulf war. ISG found no evidence to suggest concerted efforts to restart the program."
  • "While a small number of old, abandoned chemical munitions have been discovered, ISG judges that Iraq unilaterally destroyed its undeclared chemical weapons stockpile in 1991. There are no credible indications that Baghdad resumed production of chemical munitions thereafter."
  • "In practical terms, with the destruction of the Al Hakam facility, Iraq abandoned its ambition to obtain advanced BW [biological warfare] weapons quickly. ISG found no direct evidence that Iraq, after 1996, had plans for a new BW program or was conducting BW-specific work for military purposes."

Lol in no way was I trying to justify the Iraq war. I was just stating the facts.
They were still classified as WMDs. Sorry. Like I said, our soldiers even got sick. They even tried to hide it.
