Why just the right ? Both parties spend tax money like it grows on trees. I assume they think it somehow benefits us. I guess we could divide spending by population and see what they've blown on us per person over the years. I gotta feeeling they would say there isn't anything left over.

Because several on the 'right" are continually bitching and moaning that the wealthiest pay too much of their income in taxes...why not ask them, what their country gave them in return for it, ALREADY, as you just asked me....?

I doubt that the percentage of the tax money you contribute is taken into consderation when the bennies are handed out. Tax money spent per person and financial benefits received per person is probably a number that has never been calculated.
Should your benefits be tied directly to the amount you paid in ?

no, not really....it should come as one may be in need....there are some that may never be blessed enough to make enough to pay in to the system, this is why people like me, paid more....

I was just curious how much of the tax money that the government collected from you has already spent on services that the governement would claim that you have already received.
for instance---is defense spending or the NASA budget a service that the government has provided for you ?

but that is a good question those on the right should ask of the very wealthiest people some are ALWAYS pawn to, and defending.

Last years federal budget was about $10k per person living in the US. Anybody that paid less than $10k in federal taxes took more than their fair share.

Should have bought stock in Dollar Store way back then too.

One of my son's former teachers opened a Dollar Store and is having a great year. Another great business in this economy is selling guns (legally, of course).

I went to a gun show a couple weeks ago and I've never seen it so busy. Everyone is worried that Obama/Biden/Reid/Pelosi are going to start reversing our 2nd Amendment rights.

Just think if the Dollar Store sold guns! It would be a win/win for all!

People may get help from the government but that certainly doesn't mean you are owed help. Hell---they put men on the moon for you. What else do you think you are entitled to ?

SIMPLY as I have stated, if you are in dire need of help, the gvt will be there to help you...whether i think I deserve it or not... which are emotional responses, if I find myself in a bad unforseeable situation, I would not feel guilty about falling on to the Safety net that our country has set up, through our own representation....

I certainly would not feel any less deserving if i were in true need than the next guy...would you? And yes, maybe i feel this way because of the tons i have put in to the system for others before me, that were in need....i don't know...? maybe i am being selfish to think this way....? maybe this is what you are trying to point out? I don't know that either....

I know one thing that I do not feel, which is; those that have never been blessed enough to make enough, to pay in to the system that protects them in their needs, ARE ANY LESS DESERVING of the safety net than i would be if i needed it. I would not make myself out to be any "better" than them because my good fortune paid in to this safety net and thier bad breaks didn't.
