Is U.S. Now On Slippery Slope To Tyranny?

When Adolf Hitler was building up the Nazi movement in the 1920s, leading up to his taking power in the 1930s, he deliberately sought to activate people who did not normally pay much attention to politics.
Such people were a valuable addition to his political base, since they were particularly susceptible to Hitler's rhetoric and had far less basis for questioning his assumptions or his conclusions.
"Useful idiots" was the term supposedly coined by V.I. Lenin to describe similarly unthinking supporters of his dictatorship in the Soviet Union.
Put differently, a democracy needs informed citizens if it is to thrive, or ultimately even survive.
In our times, American democracy is being dismantled, piece by piece, before our very eyes by the current administration in Washington, and few people seem to be concerned about it.
The president's poll numbers are going down because increasing numbers of people disagree with particular policies of his, but the damage being done to the fundamental structure of this nation goes far beyond particular counterproductive policies.

Sowell picks up on a lot of the points we've been making here: we have our eyes wide open and can spot a goosestep 1 mile away and we're not fooled by the Neo-Nazi Rhetoric that they're doing good for us by circumventing 230+ years of jurisprudence

you assclowns should start teabaggersRus.com

we are on a path to have the rich get richer, which I like. The fact that republicans love bombing people yet call the non war party nazi's is funning and sad at the same time. But please don't stop. I love bashing rightwing morons

What part of your comments relate to the article by Thomas Sowell?
BTW
Socialists and NAZI's really do have a lot in common, don't you think.

NO I think republican war mongerers have a lot more in common with Nazi's. Namely invasions

I thought modifying quoted materal was against the rules on here?

We have been giving up rights for awhile, I spoke out against them when Bush was in office, however Obama has accelerated the issues. Cap and trade, the BP fiasco, establishing Government Motors, as for and getting CEO's resignations, getting us to fall in line with the bs. Mandatory health care. People ae letting it go. We need to wake up.

Based on this article, my answer would be: "technically, no." Now, if he had applied this essay to healthcare reform instead of BP backing its promise to be fiscally responsible to those it has damaged, it would have been good article. This one seems quite a reach.

Yeah all those things gave up more rights than the Patriot Act?
