Looks like we could use some more economic stimulus

Yes, because that money just comes out of thin air without any repercussions.

The problem with infrastructure is that it is not sexy

No Senator ever ran on bridge repairs or water mainlines. The result is that infrastructure gets ignored until it fails.

There are repercussions in ignoring infrastructure maintenance. It costs many time more to repair it once it fails, than it does to maintain it.

Pay me now or pay me much more later

Problem with infrastrusture is that is what the government typically takes care of and actually won't let you just go out and fix on your own. Those caring people in DC are supposed to be responsible.

You mean like the unprecedented years of continuous prosperity that followed the Reagan tax cuts and selective deregulation even as that brought to an end a miserable recession coupled with high unemployment, double digit interest rates, double digit inflation, and massive energy shortages that he inherited from Carter? Like the renewed faith, optimism, and pride of the American people who again felt like, given the opportunity, they could accomplish anything?

Reagan wasn't perfect and all his policies didn't work. But he at least believed in America and a less restrictive, invasive government, and in the power of the people and free market to accomplish their dreams if government gets out of the way and lets them go for it.

I think if Obama and the Democrats gave a tinkers dam about any of us, they would look to that period of recent history and learn from it. But the Republicans have been indifferent and too big government themselves for too long, and maybe the Democrats took that as license to be twice as bad, twice as dangerous, twice as destructive to the economy and the American way of life?

I don't know, but I do know that if we don't start electing people who respect the Constitution, American history, values, borders, language, culture to be our representatives in Washington, I fear we will lose the America many of us have known and loved.

To be fair, that happened on March 13 2008 when an official representative of the Mexican government told American citizens "This has, and will be Mexico again" and our government did NOTHING!!!!

That happened when former Mexican President Vincenti Fox announced on our national television of the coming "amero" and the American people did NOTHING.

It happened after Katrina when our military marched door to door and took American's guns away from them and the rest of the American people did NOTHING!

Our country has been lost for awhile, the democrat worshipers and the republican worshipers just haven't realized it yet.

I worked for the DOD when Reagan was president. We were told to eliminate a GS 11 position. They eliminated 2 GS 5s and a GS 4 instead, making an already top heavy department even more top heavy.

The United States of America only lasts as long as the Constitution which binds it. When the U.S. Constitution is lost... so is the nation. The ONLY legal authority the federal government has resides in that great Contract. All else is tyranny... government at the point of a gun.

Thankfully, the good ole Constitution is alive and well!

And this had what to do with my comments? I'm sorry, but I don't see any kind of connection in there. I have no doubt that every government program/office/bureaucracy is top heavy, bloated, and wastes huges percentages of the money that is allocated. That has been true for at least most of my now lengthy life.

I doubt very seriously, however, that Reagan personally gave any order re your specific office or had any knowledge of personnel policy or decisions that were made. And because the bureaucratic pecking order existed during his administration, as it has in all administrations, whatever happened in your department takes away none of the positives that I know existed during the Reagan adminsitration and as a result of his administration.
