My name is Katarina. I am pretty far from being a conservative. I just moved and was looking for an interesting board to post on, but I do not believe in trolling. If this is a board for conservatives, I will go someplace else.

no--we have lots of people who are not conservatives. Please stay and make you case. You will be asked to justify it however.

Besides, any time I go to a message board and see only pictures of Mr. Bush, the flag and handsome soldiers, I pretty much know what kind of board it is.

The majority of people on this board have a conservative and/or libertarian point of view. There are numerous members who have a more liberal point of view. There are extremists on both sides, and you will see them both easily and quickly.

What concerns me about some of your posts is your immediate leap into "if there are too many conservatives there will not be productive debate," opinion.

I posted for a very long time on a nonviolence, liberal website. As a libertarian, I frequently was vastly outnumbered. But by keeping my cool and treating posters with the respect I wanted to be treated with, I had a great time on that board. But yes, I occassionally got a bit overwhelmed by the number of people who posted against me...I chose to look at it as a challenge. I needed to be 10x more certain of my opinion - and more willing to consider others opinions.

If you are interested in talking about issues with a variety of people of differing opinions and you can take an occassional insult from the occassional poster who throws them...then this will be a great board for you. The board thrives due to a healthy debate...and it is always improved by new members who can rationally and calmly discuss their point of view.

However, I hope when you come back you will give the numerous posters here a fair chance. Your first few posts contained several thinly veiled shots at conservatives and this board...which is why you received some of the responses you did.

A sincere welcome. I hope you stay and discuss with an open mind.

This board is 98% conservative. Just open up and look at any thread that is critical of Bush. That is all you need to do.

The unadulterated CRAP you post is criticism? You've been challenged more than once to post a legitimate accusation against Bush, with corroborating facts, and you have YET to do anything but continue to troll.

If that's such a good board, why don't YOU please take your little self there and play with your little like-minded friends and concoct all the BS accusations you do and just generally have a good time?

I agree completely, obscenities and ignorance makes it hard to take people seriously. However, I would ask you to re-read your previous posts and try to view it as some here have. I read from your post that you have already made up your mind about this board and that your opinion of it is very negative - before you have really spoken to a single soul!!!

There is nothing wrong with being wary...but give it a chance before judging it.

(Or at the very least go ahead and judge it, we're all human ...but maybe hold off on letting everyone know you already formed a negative impression - its hard to really want to devote a lot time and thought into discussing the issues with someone who has already decided you're stupid and not worth their time!).

Anyway, welcome again...I look forward to seeing you in the threads!

This is a board for open debate. But its for debate and not trolling. If you want a serious conversation. Be serious. If you are going to argue something. argue something with stubstance.

But if you are going to take shots at people expect them to be fired back. If you refuse to back anything up people wont take you seriously.

The fact is the reason the conservatives outnumber the liberals on this board is because way too many liberals refuse to back anything up. Saying "Bush is stupid" or "Bush lies" is not a valid argument. Rather than contribute all you see is liberals trolling. If thats what you want then you are right not to stick around.

If you want to have serious discussion can discuss and debate all you want. much like any of our other liberal leaning posters do. But remember you get back what you put in.

Very true sir. My sense of humor is sometimes lacking. I am willing to take everyone at face value. What I think is sad is that I asked a simple question, but only Ms. Gem was willing to provide me with a simple and non-provocative answer.
Then again, it is why females are normally more intellectual. Men can make some very good points, but too often get their minds caught in their zippers.
