Is there a potential Republican Candidate for Prez 2012 that anyone's excited about?

I haven't been excited about a potus candidate since I worked for the Reagan-Bush '84 campaign. Maturity and an inside look at politicians and politics taught me to have really low expectations of them all, even the ones I tend to agree with.

Go&fuckyourself, you are a ridiculous idiot.

Jes sayin'..........

I am seriously hoping that the GOP runs Palin.

I am also hoping that she assumes a populist stance and embraces the objections that the rank and file TEA PARTY members have been bitching about.

Of course if Palin gets the mod, I fully expect that she's tow the line of the GOP masters, and disappoint her supporters.

And yeah, that's sort of why I'd like to see here win the oval office.

Perhaps, once the TP players are betrayed, they'll start realizing that neither tthe GOP or the Dems are EVER going to really give a damned about the average American.

You Republicans loyalists need your own Obama to wake you up, too, I guess.

Palin doesn't belong within 20 miles of the White House.

No argument there, but then too, neither did Bush II.

So you don't subscribe to the "the worse things get the sooner the revolution" theory of how governments change?

If Palin came in on the TP populist platform, the Bluebloods who actually run the GOP would either cripple her in Congress, or have her assassinated.

If they crippled her politically, then at least the TP populists would begin understanding that they are not really on the same page as the GOP they currently support.

They would discover, just as so many centralist government leaning Dems have discovered, that the GOP isn't really all that interested in their ideas, their needs, and for that matter, what happens to the country I have absolutely no doubt most TPers love.

why wasn't Bush assassinated?

why wasn't Bush assassinated?

Cheney.

Ok, why weren't Bush, Cheney, and his whole cabinet killed? If you can get to one, you should be able to get to all of them, no?
How big a conspiracy are we talking here? The last time a conspiracy tried to get at several Federal officials all at once was the Lincoln assassination, and IIRC that night only one of the assassins was actually successful despite some serious planning and preparations. After 9/11 a great deal of effort was made to ensure that it was next to impossible for terrorists to hit the whole line of sucession at once.

EDIT: By the way, the Cheney comment was more tongue in cheek. Its the same reason that a lot of moves to impeach Bush lost traction. You impeach Bush, you get Cheney who wanted to go even farther towards a Unitary Executive than Bush. Cheney was probably better protection for Bush from an impeachment than a Republican Super Majority and better protection from assassination than a personal force field.

Try to visualize a Democratic Party as cutthroat as the Pubs are willing to be sometimes. Then realize that any impeachable offence Bush might have made had to include the Devil's favorite Demon, our boy Cheney. Impeach 'em both I say. Then your President, circa 2007 is the one and only Nancy Pelosi. Holy Crap!!!

That would've been totally awesome! Might've caused a problem in upcoming elections, but... ha!

I'm just guessing, if the roles were reversed, there were impeachable offences from that pair to get them both booted, just a hunch...

That's not what others think.

Whoever the "Values Voters" are for, I'm for the other guy or gal. And if the "values voters" like him, he's almost certainly a condescending prick.

Mike is from the district just next to mine, so I consider him a "homeboy" or favorite son; I have never noticed him being condescending, so that is your interpretation of his personality, not broadly observed. He does lack charisma, and his experience is middlin. His strength is in the House and that's where he should stay; we conservatives need him there.
I hope he drops any plans for any other higher office other than the Senate. The next opening for him there is Lugar's seat, but he'd lose on that.

Not surprising, most don't have values anymore.

I have values, just not theirs generally.

I do like Mike Huckabee actually and don't find him condescending at all. I don't think I'd want him to be President, because we're not that close ideologically, but he seems like a good guy and not a nut.

It's probably similar to the feeling some folks feel about Obama, where they like him, but not his values or policies. No, I'm not talk to the majority of the haters, I know you don't like anything about the guy.

And yeah, it's my personal perception of Pence. I'm surprised you don't think he could have Lugar's seat. Why do you say that?

btw, I acknowledge our own biases lead us to our perceptions. Among the Republican Party, I think Eric Cantor, Mike Pence, Michael Steele talk down to people. But...I like Lindsey Graham, Paul Ryan, Tom Coburn.

I don't even need to tell you what I think of Palin, Bachmann, Tancredo...

Lugar has such a huge reservoir of good will built up in Indiana that he is safely esconced. He has voted consistently in favor of small business, and small businesses are the backbone of Indiana's economy. Bayh finally recognized before it was too late; at first he voted mostly against SB, but he came around 180-degrees in his second term and survived. Then he drank the Obama Kool-aide and it retired him.

In his '76 first attempt at the Senate (against Vance Hardtke) I gave $500 to the local "Build-Pac" to help Lugar out. In '06 I voted against him in the primary and for Marvin Scott.

I'll get back to you on the rest of your comments

I'm not going to suggest Romney would make a bad candidate or President, but I would guess that he will do what's expedient and not necessarily "right" as the previous poster posted he would.

When he ran as a Republican in Massachusetts he was pro-choice and for RomneyCare, etc.

When he was running in the primaries, he shifted right for expediency. He attempts to be a chameleon and everyone sees through it. That's his biggest problem. He's perceived as being two-faced.

Nobody likes that, especially conservative Republicans.
These are the reasons you haven't seen me throw his name out.

Newt told Hannity he'd make his official decision in January.
I'd have to check up on him for a while. He just reminds me of Clinton too much.
I'd have to agree with something someone said earlier; that I'd vote for Hillary before I would vote for Palin.
I think she has showed some real balls in her role as SoS.

Too soon, methinks for Marco. 2016 maybe??

Ronald Reagan's ghost is a far more compelling candidate than JindalRomneyThunePawlenty, I'm voting for and contributing to Obama in 2012 and Christie or Rubio in 2016

Because Obama and Christie and Rubio are the same?
Obama and Crist are, anyway :D
Don;t know much about Christie.
Rubio doesn;t fit. Where'd that come from?
