In the 1970s, self-acclaimed war hero and pompous ass John Kerry threw somebody's (apparently not his own) war medals over the White House fence in just one of many protests against the Vietnam War.

The response is unknown, as the protest went on.

Nearly 40 years later, someone threw a box of tea bags over the same fence onto the White House lawn, in protest of the rising tide of socialism, and the entire tea party in Washington was shut down by the Secret Service.

Now you tell me, the White House Lawn is many many acres, about 16 acres to be exact...

So why is it in the 70s they didn't end the protests as violent gas bombing, anthrax throwing terrorists...even though the protests in the 70s were so bad that the White House had machine gun nests posted in case they turned ugly.

But, today, when such force is not necessary, and the tea parties are clearly non-violent...

Secret Service feels a need to shut-down a tea party at any excuse it can find, because a tea bag landed 1,000 feet from the white house.

That little tea bag's gonna blow up the President! OH NOES

Don't try and justify it by "terrorism" or some crap...terrorists drive buses into buildings and demolish them, they don't hurl their anthrax laced letter bombs from 2,000 feet away.

"Is the government supressing Conservatives?"

They certainly would like to and they certainly are trying to!

They didn't stop those demonstatations because they COULD NOT STOP THEM.

Oh, they tried to shut them down but those demonstatators would not be stoppped. Not with tear gas or CS gas or pepper gas. Not with clubs, and not with arrests, either.

I know this for a fact because I was there.

Obama tried to stop the tea party demonstrations with tear gas and clubs! :disbelief:

And this is being suppressed by the liberal media elites, no doubt!

umm, i think he's talking about the 60's war demonstrations.

This is what happens when the country gets so paranoid. Powdery substances are a threat! LOL! If this had happened two years ago the teabaggers would have been charged with terrorism. Thank Obama for small favors.

The local police did that?

Well then, those tea party protestors must have been doing SOMETHING RIGHT.

If anyone was surpressing the democstators it was the LOCAL cops.

Local as in, you know, those local governments that most of you far right wingers think ought to contol the nation?

Jesus! you guys are dumb.

Of course free speech is dying in this country.

The shrub administration set up chainlink boxes a mile from speaking sites and called them Free Speech Zones.

Mel Gibson and Michael Richards are permanently shunned for their free speech (granted, it was hateful, but their apologies went unacknowledged).

The shrub administration screened people at public events to make sure they were dittos.

You have the right to free speech.....buy you're not dumb enough to actually try it.

I'm pretty sure with Kerry the FBI had a file on him and he was the target of attention all the way up to the white house.

like you even know what a neocon is

"Is the government supressing Conservatives?"

They certainly would like to and they certainly are trying to!
Just because an increasing number of American are turned off by the conservatives' negative message and silly noise and antics doesn't mean the conservatives are being suppresed.
They are being ignored as irrelevant and useless.
When conservatives have something besides petulant whining and smearing to offer,
America will listen. Until then......
Complain and accuse all you want, but the loudest and most obnoxious noise makers around aren't being suppressed.
They are being ignored.
