Is the French healthcare system a good model for the U.S.?

I was just thinking the same thing. I must know a half dozen or more cancer survivors and not one of them lost their house. Go figure.

Correct me if I'm wrong (because I've never had a mortgage), but don't they come with this stuff called "mortgage insurance", which kicks in and pays off your house if you die or become seriously ill and can't work? Granted, you have to be smart enough to buy it, which is probably where the leftists are missing out.

No, thats not mortgage insurance.

Mortgage insurance doesn't protect the buyer, it protects the lender.

My mistake. The insurance I'm referring to is called "mortgage PROTECTION insurance". The house I live in was inherited from my mother-in-law, as was another one, and both were paid off in full by such insurance when she passed away.

Never heard of that. Must be a very specialized and uncommon type of insurance. Do they take age and such into account?

Bullshit.

None of you whining little bitches has the spine to get the fuck out and go live in those European socialist worker's paradises.

thats because they have it good over here....and they know it....L.K.Eder one of our posters is from Germany.....read his posts on their health care system....he says that they are finding to be viable they must make some kind of a profit, and he said it is starting to go from the patients health to profit orientated...sound familiar?....

hehe, what do i find here, no i did not search for my screen name.

our health care system has a lot of problems, but it is better than yours, YES! lol, no for real, what i read, and i realize i can be a victim of cherry-picked news, you US Americans would very much like it here, so much, that we'd have to build a wall to keep you out, if you knew, so forget what i wrote.

Better, how? Is it that it's basically free and paid through taxes? Or, is it that you have shorter waiting lines to see you family Dr.? Is it that you have shorter waiting lines to see a specialist? Is it that you have shorter waiting lines for tests? Maybe, shorter waiting lines for proceedures, such as operations, or treatments like Chemo, or radiation?
Is it that you have a better survival rates with cancer treatment than we do? Is it that you have better survival rates than we do with heart disease?
Just to say that it's better than ours...I'm confused as to what you mean as you didn't really say anything but it's better than ours.

It's not at all uncommon. My parents had it on their house when I was growing up, as well. And I would imagine that the likelihood of your living long enough to pay off your mortgage factors into the cost of the insurance as much as it does into the likelihood of your getting a home loan in the first place. As I said, I've never personally had a mortgage, but I would assume it works much the same as any insurance, with adjustable rates based on a variety of factors.

I'm with Meister on this one. Not that I think your posts are shaping up to be much more than foul swamp emanations, but for the very short time you're around before I ignore you, I'd like to hear some specifics to back up your bilge.

I just asked my wife about it, and she's never heard of it either. She worked in a real estate law firm for 12 year, pre-closing and closing loans.

I'm not saying it doesn't exist, I just don't think it is nearly as common as you may think.

Might mean more if your wife had worked in an insurance firm.

I'm thinking if my immigrant mother-in-law, who never had more formal education than the second grade, figured this out, it's probably not all that obscure.

Oh, its just repackaged life insurance and separate from the actual mortgage and closing of the property. Thats why my wife had never heard of it.

I'd just rather make sure my life insurance is high enough to cover it if I pass, rather than taking out a separate policy.

It's a bit different from regular life insurance, in that it also covers you in the case of catastrophic illness that doesn't result in death. My parents' policy kicked in when my father had a major stroke, which is good because he lived for another fifteen years and wound up in a nursing home.

Medical bills prompt more than 60 percent of U.S. bankruptcies...

This year, an estimated 1.5 million Americans will declare bankruptcy. Many people may chalk up that misfortune to overspending or a lavish lifestyle, but a new study suggests that more than 60 percent of people who go bankrupt are actually capsized by medical bills.

Bankruptcies due to medical bills increased by nearly 50 percent in a six-year period, from 46 percent in 2001 to 62 percent in 2007, and most of those who filed for bankruptcy were middle-class, well-educated homeowners, according to a report that will be published in the August issue of The American Journal of Medicine.

"Unless you're a Warren Buffett or Bill Gates, you're one illness away from financial ruin in this country," says lead author Steffie Woolhandler, M.D., of the Harvard Medical School, in Cambridge, Mass. "If an illness is long enough and expensive enough, private insurance offers very little protection against medical bankruptcy, and that's the major finding in our study."

on the other thread i also pre-emptively admitted that i am no expert, that i don't know the devil in detail and so on. but why do i even try to explain myself. i should just use a bigger font and tell you that germany is THE BEST! NO 1!!!!

dumbed down enough?

and for cecile0815, for breakfast i eat aborted fetuses, as you suspected!

gute nacht, lightweights.

You are mistaken if you think I have given you enough thought to suspect anything about you, other than if you like your country's health care so much, then by all means, you should stay there and mind your own frigging business when it comes to OURS.

Um, asshat, how can I "answer" when you didn't ask anything? Look at your previous post, dimwad. Not a single question mark in the whole thing. Lots of exclamation marks, though, and we all know that multiple exclamation marks is the sign of a diseased mind.

i am saying, that i am no expert on health care, not even on the german system, so i can't make an actual comparison, that is why i was joking on this particular post. seems like i rattled some cage, to claim one is better than the US in anything gets attention.

Sorry, my mistake. I was finishing dinner, and just realized that I blurred Radio and LK's posts together, rather than realizing I had two different guys talking.
