To me, it matters, whether it's about the measure of Government manipulation in the cost of service, or a true list of the ingredients in and processes, what we consume, go through. What deserves special privilege? Who gets to determine that? Who gets to review? Who gets the final word? Are we still even subsidizing Tobacco Growers? How about a list of everything subsidized? Should the milk subsidy stop, will we see a reflection of that in our tax burden?

The government can come up with hundreds of studies that would PROVE that milk is a deadly poison. They are just helping people be healthy by making milk beyond reasonable affordability. Same thing with everything the government wants to do. All for your own good.

As long as Monsanto is out of control (speaking of lack of gummint oversight), I won't touch milk. I grew up drinking it like water. We grow, we learn.

How in the hell do you connect dropping subsidizes and socialism? I think you might be hitting the milk a little bit hard.

OMFG. Can it possibly be that katzen is actually correct about something???

We're the only mammal on the planet who is never weaned and we don't even drink the milk of our own species (stooopid Rs are agin it, for crying out loud!). Milk is the worst thing one can give their kids - unless their kids are baby cows. I realize that most people will disagree but read a book called Whitewash.

Sallow is right about socialism. The last figures I read several years ago, if it weren't for farm subsidies (that's taxes you and I pay), hamburger would cost $19 a pound. I don't know what it is now.

If you eat meat, dairy, eggs, you pay for it in your taxes and you pay again at the store.

Not to mention that animal-based "food" is a causative factor in heart disease, cancer, diabetics, kidney and liver disease and on and on.

Don't worry though, you'll have health care insurance that YOU have to pay for, so by all means, chow down.
