The timing of your otherwise rhetorical question is quite haunting in light of the answer.

Answer: YES

The cure: backdate your ignition in a pre 1984 vehicle to a 1970 ignition system with only points and condensor and plugs and no SSI. Otherwise, the way the Oligarchy seems to be shaping up, they can now and will, dazzle your late model transportation with mircowaves and that will render said vehicle immobile. A fried electrical system.

I backdated my 1983 Jeep CJ7 (VEX) to a 1969 ignition from a 1969 GTO. I give it tuneups in the field, in the bush, for about $9 and do it myself with my own timing light.
