If big business does not get what it wants through govt. legislation, yes they have and will continue to destroy the US economy. Secondly, the ultra rich desire a labor force that is desperate to work for whatever they can get.

The only reason we are standing on the precipice of this financial cliff is the reluctance of those in government to face the reality that the programs adopted over the past 70 years are financially unsustainable. Years ago the leadership of the Democrat party proclaimed Newt and company were un-American and a disgrace to the country, they stated welfare checks, food stamps, social security, and government payments would not be made, people would starve, furthermore that this was a fabrication of the republican party. Now the president and his loyal minions are playing the same game.

However, the damage being done to our economy right now is through deliberate inaction, obstruction and the relentless, nation-wide assault on working people and the poor.

People forget that the dimwits controlled the congress from 2006 till 2010. They are the idiots that caused the problem.

So tax cuts are the reason we are where we are today? interesting observation, however financial models forecasted the pending abyss back in the 70's. Milton Friedman, and a host of others, indicated we would hit the cliff earlier without substantial changes to the tax policy that would result in the accumulation of risk capital, expansion of the private sector, and GDP. The only problem was that government never stopped spending.

Certainly not by the Republican Party. Congress has passed several Bills that Harry Reid and Oblamer personally don't like. Therefore they have been blocked by the Democratic Party majority in the Senate. The real culprits in this disaster is the Progressive Socialist Left that has targeted the poor, and the "middle Class". Accordingly before Oblamer is through there will be only two classes. The enslaved poor and the rich. The rich will consist mainly of the political Progressive politicians and followers of Oblamer.
