First they started searching us like criminals before boarding aircraft without even raising the alert status....and now they're talking about doing the same searches on trains, boats, and buses folks.

The next step in tightened security could be on U.S. public transportation, trains and boats.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano says terrorists will continue to look for U.S. vulnerabilities, making tighter security standards necessary.

“[Terrorists] are going to continue to probe the system and try to find a way through,” Napolitano said in an interview that aired Monday night on "Charlie Rose."

“I think the tighter we get on aviation, we have to also be thinking now about going on to mass transit or to trains or maritime. So, what do we need to be doing to strengthen our protections there?”

They wait till right before Thanksgiving and start illegal and invasive searches on Americans across the board and they expect us to take it. Or is this really just harassment?

To top it off...Congress has excluded themselves from the searches....because they claim they are no threat.

To answer the OP, I would say the administration is trying to condition the population for more widespread implementation of this intrusion. Get us used to it, "numb" us to it, so we don't complain when they implement the same measures at train stations, malls, post offices, and schools.

The truth is none of this is going to make us any safer. This Administration because of political correctness can't identify the threat and instead chooses to hassle everyone. We'll see what happens because I think Obama is just digging his own grave. Everyone is gonna hate him unless they're just detached from reality.

The reason I say this will not protect us is because once you become predictable they find out your weaknesses and take advantage of them. If everyone is getting a pat-down then they'll just go around that security. The chances of catching them decreases. In the process all of the innocent are being punished and pissed off as well. This will come back to haunt Obama...let me assure you.

And people are going to opt for other modes of transportation. This cannot be good for the airlines at all.

If you want to know how to handle security....assure that you catch anyone who intends on doing harm......you use the Israeli method.

Nobody gets a ticket that has been identified as a member of a terrorist organization. Everyone who attempts to buy one has a background check done. It's a simple deal. If you want to fly you have to fill out a questionnaire and submit it months in advance. That way they can do an investigation and nobody knows about it but you. If you get flagged you have to present evidence that the information is incorrect. This will weed out many of the fake passports and people traveling with fake identification as well as possible terrorists. I mean....this is supposed to be about safety, right?

Now because this is so effective I'm sure the ACLU will be up in arms about it but let them complain. But which would you rather have....peace of mind or this cluster we're witnessing today.

These machines are new, and the grope-down procedures are brand new as well.

I like you say we "invaded a sovereign nation", implying we did so soley to kill "innocent" women and children. We invaded Afghanistan since it was the home of AQ. We invaded Iraq to overthrow an asshole dictator. And all hell did break loose when that happened, even though Dems supported both actions.
