Is States Succession in the Future for USA??? One Russian Scholar seems to think so? Read the link below, all opinions are welcome...

Its my personal opinion, if it did happen, that the southern states could not survive it without Texas and Mississippi. From what i understand, Meridian MS is where the Navy Aircraft carrier pilots are trained and Vicksburg MS is the local of one of 5 supercomputers in the USA, and Texas is virtually a sovereign country with alot of oil and gasoline???

At some point in time the people of Alaska, Texas, California or others have got to figure out that the cost of maintaining their relationship with the federal government is not worth what they get out of that relationship.

The next question is will Obama (or whoever is Commander in Chief at the time) send troops, and will those troops shoot Americans to preserve the union?

No easy answers, thats for sure.

The Supreme Court ruled in 1868 in White v Texas that states do not have a right to secede. I don't agree with it, but that's a whole different topic.

The fact is, the Federal government has given itself the legal right to hold states within the union by whatever means necessary. Basically, secession would require a successful armed rebellion.

I posted this article earlier,,, I didn't think it was talking about secession.. I was thinking more along the lines of how the US would be divided up between Russia China and Venezuela,,

The founders said it best when they said, "Join or die". America can not survive as a broken country. Not then or not now! We must stay united if we wan't any chance to survie these next few years. No matter who won this election this was going to happen.

Sorta puts a whole new meaning into " Houston, we have a problem " .

Which Founders said that? I think you just pulled it out of your ass.

What would be the definition of successful?

No.

I've read a few pieces by various Russian authors lately on collapse. I think they are transferring their experience with the collapse of the Soviet Union and projecting a similar scenario onto the world.

It won't happen.

The USSR was an unwieldy empire, with disparate peoples and little to bind the empire together. The economy was rotten as resource allocation was based almost entirely on non-price signals, particularly on political patronage and the maintenance of political power.

These factors do not exist in America.

These "scholars" frame of reference is the collapse of the Soviet Union. There is no common ground between the United States and the old Soviet Empire at all.

You people that latch on to this crap are worse than sheep, and twice as gullible....

Over grown military establishments are under any form of government inauspicious to liberty, and are to be regarded as particularly hostile to republican liberty.
George Washington

The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference - they deserve a place of honor with all that's good.
George Washington

Worry is the interest paid by those who borrow trouble.

This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it, or exercise their revolutionary right to overthrow it.

Actually one or more of the Armed Forces would have to break with the states, then all hell would break loose Texas has the Airforce i do know that... Texas and the Feds have been having bickering and differing probs lately over illegal alians status with emprisonment and executions...

Nonsense. Other countries have split up without ill effects at various times in history, the USSR most recently. Secession is as american as apple pie, and virtually all of the founding fathers supported it, even Hamilton.

The main thing threatening america's survival is it's own bloated government. Secession would cure that, and make democracy more representative. There are about 750,000 people for every congressman now--no wonder our democracy seems unresponsive. And no wonder european states do better with socialism--the most successful ones are dealing with populations under 10 million.

Fact of the matter America will not survive to be part of the Armageddon as she is not mentioned nowhere in Biblical prophesy. Some scholars beleive that because it was said by Abraham Lincoln " America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.". we are doing it everyday, moral relaps, corruption running rampant in our government, some beleive that corruption has even crept into our elections, homeland security wtf does this do did we just sign away our total privacy rights??? if this is the case then we are on the road to eventual Marshal Law and eventually a horrible civil war. All it would take i beleive is confiscation of all GUNS and the revoking of the 2nd Amendment...

"Corporations have been enthroned An era of corruption in high
places will follow and the money power will endeavor to
prolong its reign by working on the prejudices of the people
. . until wealth is aggregated in a few hands . . . and the
Republic is destroyed."
-- Abraham Lincoln

George Washington in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence. The church, the plow, the prairie wagon, and citizen's firearms are indelibly related. From the hour the Pilgrims landed, to the present day, events, occurrences, and tendencies prove that to insure peace, security and happiness, the rifle and the pistol are equally indispensable. Every corner of this land knows firearms, and more than 99 99/100 percent of them by their silence indicate they are in safe and sane hands. The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference; they deserve a place with all that's good. When firearms go, all goes; we need them every hour.

Martial Law---please.

Most Western European socialist states have been able to get away with socialism because of a few main attributes

1) They are small
2) They are ethnically homogeneous
3) They are very highly educated
4) They are relatively wealthy to begin with

The countries starting to fail now are the larger ones (Germany and France) who are growing increasingly heterogeneous and poorer due to massive, uncontrolled third world, mostly poor Muslim, immigration. socialist systems are largely rigid, don't scale at all, and are not nearly nimble enough to react to rapidly changing, diverse demographics...

Well it's all well and good to say it, but Lincoln certainly didn't believe this in the least.
