When you think about it, purpose of legal protection of marriage is to encourage procreation or formation of healthy families, since it has obvious benefit to society - which is reason why state has a vested interest in it to begin with.

Since same-sex "couples" cannot produce children naturally, then giving them same "rights" as straight couples is actually reverse-discrimination and giving them special right that others do not have:

Because this mean that even though same-sex couple cannot have children, they get marriage benefits just for "existing", while straight couples are presumed to be given the benefits due to ability to have children.

So this be silly and nonsensical - it be like driver of gasoline-powered car demanding the same tax credit from government as driver of "green car" just to be "equal" - but of core it is not equal, since purpose of tax credit is to encourage choice of car which benefit environment, not car which pollute environment.
