Is redistribution of wealth a misnomer?

Shouldn't it just be called distribution of wealth?

Shouldn't it just be called distribution of wealth?

Using the term redistribution implies that you are correcting a past error. The previous distribution was unfair for "reason X" therefore we are correcting said unfairness by taking from some people and giving it to others.

Capitalism naturally distributes wealth, as it creates it, by rewarding the most efficient and those who contribute the most.
Government seeks to redistribute that wealth, rewarding those who put them in office and keep them there.
