Not to anything like the extent you seem to think, and resentment of the fact that a black president could be elected is much more prevalent among older white people than you seem to think. I've seen a lot of it on this board, in fact.
It's a lot like the opposition to Bill Clinton, which was never based on his politics (which were very conservative for a Democrat), but always on who he was: a draft-dodging dope-smoking skirt-chasing war-protesting formerly-long-haired Baby Boomer. Many people were dismayed that someone like that could be elected; it means America had radically changed. So does the Obama election. A lot of people don't like that.
This is real. To observe that it is real is not "playing the race card." It's just dealing with reality.
