Dear Unkotare: What kind of fear/AFRAID are you concerned about.
And which kind do you think is causing political division? See my reply below.
Thank you for asking.

[

The fear has to stop first, then the understanding can follow.

Who is afraid of what, in your imagination?
Geez I've run into so many variations on this same theme

1. People AFRAID that the objections to ACA mandates are not about liberty
but about "not wanting to pay for health care" and 'racism against Obama'
(see threads about 20 million dollar bets I made over the Tea Party's motives)
2. People AFRAID that Obama and liberals don't love America but are trying to destroy it with
socialistic political beliefs (and/or pacifying Muslims/Jihadists and branding political opposition as Terrorists)
3. People AFRAID that being prochoice means pushing abortion
4. People AFRAID that gun rights means letting criminals shoot out schools
(or people AFRAID that Obama is going to go after your guns)
5. People AFRAID that being for the death penalty means revenge
(or people AFRAID that getting rid of the death penalty means letting killers run free)
6. People AFRAID that stopping Voter ID means letting voter fraud run unchecked
or that people WANTING Voter ID are RACIST and want to go back to Poll Taxes affecting the Poor
7. People AFRAID that all gays are unnatural, sick, mental illness, or something else that is being denied and skirted over (or people AFRAID that any spiritual healing or claim that homosexuality was healed is a lie or fraud to push Christian propaganda)
8. People AFRAID of Christians/Conservatives/Republicans as homophobic and bigoted
and controlling people with religion
9. People AFRAID that liberals are mentally ill and Democrats are keeping people ignorant to control them politically

C'mon do you really want me to list out "how do I fear thee, let me count the ways?"

You don't seem to understand what "AFRAID" means.

HI @Unkatore
If the FEAR is enough to prevent people from working together on solutions,
that is already affecting me, public policy and taxpayers. It can be all kinds of FEAR or whatever you want to call it.
And the lack of access to education, information and knowledge is still killing the economy and the country.

A. Obama and Carson both agree on microlending, that could replace and get rid of welfare problems overnight.
But they are divided by FEAR, dividing the rich from the poor by PARTY. So this is costing us money not solving problems.

B. We've lost national history and millions of taxes on corporate interests who take advantage of the public,
because of FEARS of standing up for "equal protection of the laws"
and explaining to these bullies that laws are laws and must be defended for all people.

We are so AFRAID of being overruled by "the other party" we let them run amok with corporate funding
with hopes we will get something out of the deal, and at least be defended from "the other party" instead of
ENFORCING THE LAWS to stop any such abuses. We could stop abuses by public education and AGREEMENT on Constitutional standards, but instead, we bow and let corporate-funded parties bully each other at our expense.

1. I remember when Mayor Brown bowed to the "powers that be" who decide who gets to run, win and stay in office. So he was AFRAID to defend the elderly residents from being evicted out of our historic district, by threatening them with things that weren't fully following the laws and respecting their rights they could have defended.

Nobody in the City of Houston DARES to go against the powerful developers who wanted the land the historic landmarks were built on, so the City and County approved removing gravesites, tearing down 2/3 of a national Civil Rights landmark, and destroying almost all the 40 blocks (of the 80 total) that were registered as a national historic district.

2. The church widow "AFRAID" of standing up for the church's right to defend property rights from being taken away
while the city is pressuring them to give up their land over a demolition lien they didn't approve as the city claims they did. "AFRAID" that it would be against God to "go against the City." NOT KNOWING that the City is a private municipality like a corporation and is NOT Constitutional govt that people are bound to follow.

C. FEAR of criminals and FEAR we can't pay for health care
is costing us billions on failed prisons that could have paid for health care.

Spiritual healing could be researched and proven by medical science to CURE addictions, mental and even criminal illness,
as well as curing cancer and other expensive diseases to treat.

but the FEAR of Christians imposing right wing agenda (and FEAR of the fraudulent types of faith healing shown in the media) has censored the knowledge of how spiritual healing works which is effective natural and FREE.

Lives are lost, and innocent victims harmed or killed when so many mental, physical, and social ills
could be prevented, corrected or cured by Spiritual Healing that is FREE.

And yet millions are poured into research of Marijuana and none into Spiritual Healing.
Because of FEAR of religion as something negative or false.

Well if I can figure out how to explain Constitutional and conservative/Christian beliefs
to liberals
>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<
if you could do that, i would say you were/are one of the best educators since Plato.

Thanks Wildman
I think the key is to find the key leaders, explain to them where the political beliefs and biases are missing each other.
And then let them explain that to each other.

I have the most success if people have some background that allows them to FORGIVE and listen.

I believe we might need to call Constitutional conventions and address these issues between parties, on how to handle political beliefs, so people understand each other's thinking and don't overregulate/obstruct out of fear of conflicting agenda.

=================================
Ex: when a fellow Democrat asked me what is the deal with Conservative gun rights activists.
What is wrong with banning a high powered assault rifle that nobody needs, isn't that EXTREME?
I explained using both an example and the process of thinking

1. I gave the example that with the LA riots, many shop owners resorted to DISPLAYING their AK-47 as the only way
to DETER attacks by huge mobs. No, they didn't have to use them to shoot. And that's the point, as a DETERRENT
when too many in a mob were attacking a shop with only 1-2 owners to defend it. They had to SEE a powerful weapon to stop. So yes that was EXTREME, but so was the emergency. And no, it doesn't mean gun violence but preventing crime.
These are for law abiding citizens who aren't going to abuse them for crime.

2. I explained the PROCESS. that govt is not supposed to deprive law abiding citizens of liberty,
but you have to have committed a crime first, and then go through due process before losing rights.

Well here, these citizens HAVE freedoms to buy and own guns, and suddenly you are going to take that right away?
Restrict it because of what OTHER people do who are CRIMINAL? But that is punishing the innocent law abiding citizens
collectively along with the Criminals. And the worst part is the law abiding citizens are affected more because they follow the laws, and the criminals are less likely to be affected who want to benefit from this going on the black market.

So then he understood: nobody wants to be punished as a criminal when they have law abiding intent and don't deserve to lose rights because of "other people" abusing that. Democrats are against war as a form of "collective punishment" where they understand you don't punish the peaceful civilians because of the crimes of the terrorist attackers.

I also explain there is nothing wrong with citizens taking the same training and oath as police and military officers,
so there is mental health screening, and there is agreement that the use of guns is for DEFENSE of the laws, not committing crimes.

I propose to call for an agreement among Parties that the Second Amendment "right of the people' MEANS "law abiding citizens" -- if we AGREE what this means, we can work together to make sure the laws don't overregulate or underregulate but are by AGREEMENT among law abiding citizens. and maybe AGREE on a system that districts can adopt locally on how to make sure citizens are trained and screened the same as we would require of police for public safety.

No kind at all. Your lack of facility with the English language is causing you confusion. Take steps to address that shortcoming.

Unkotare so what do you call the negative reactions to Obama that he is dividing and destroying the country?
You don't call that fear-based? What do YOU call it, then?

Unkotare so what do you call the negative reactions to Obama that he is dividing and destroying the country??
Observations? Opinions?
Just how stupid are you?

And are the negative reactions, such as the hateful and angry ones against Obama,
based on FEAR or love?

False choice, you insipid simpleton.

OK, then what would you say the biased views against Obama and liberals are based on?
If you don't believe FEAR is involved, then what do you call it?
