The really bad news is that the 2019 Budget is already being written with the tax cuts in place and a $900b deficit. It looks as though the tax cuts are NOT generating adequate revenue, so what will the GOP congressmen do? Nothing.

p.s. if they wanted to cut spending they would need to cut welfare and medicaid in half, that would only raise about $500b, so they would still need to raise all tax rates by 7% above 2016 levels to cover the deficit. Unless there are other major savings that could be cut, like defense.

So I'd cut welfare and medicaid in half and raise taxes 7% above 2016 levels, then cut defense $100b and the Budget is balanced.
