Is GOP Health Care Proposal a Big Fuck You To Americans?

health care reform is on everyone's mind these days. New proposals are coming from the senate and from the house. President obama has made reform a priority.

Universality of access to health insurance is the most pressing issue. Universal health care simply means coverage for all eligible residents of a political area. The united states is the only industrialized country that has not implemented a universal system for citizens under age 65.

Universal health care can be implemented in several ways. In some countries the government directly manages the health care system. This is usually called socialized medicine. In most countries universal coverage is achieved by a mix of public and private funding. Taxation is the primary source of funding but is supplemented by private payor arrangements.

In 2000 the world health organization (who) produced a report which ranked all the health insurance systems used by its member countries. The is the report usually quoted when discussing both the good and bad features of a health insurance system.

It should be noted that the who has indicated it will no longer produce a ranking table because of the complexity of the task. The criteria for ranking the health care systems was based on a wide variety of findings, including but not limited to, life expectancy, infant mortality and cost.

Many people know that the united states ranked 37th out of 198 countries and that canada ranked 30th. But do you know what the top 10 best health care system in the world are?

The top 10 in the order determined by the world health organization

1. France

2. Italy

3. San marino

4. Andorra

5. Malta

6. Singapore

7. Spain

8. Oman

9. Austria

10. Japan

and every one of those countries except Japan has under a hundred million people.....and six of them have less than 10 million.....much easier to implement and pay for than 300 million.....i would think....
so teh cost of insuring people goes down when you have less in the pool?

:cuckoo:

Only if you're a liberal prick.
The real conclusion is that the GOP plan will not get any kind of hearing because the GOP is in the minority currently. Further any debate about the merits of their plan, or even what problems we are discussing, will get swept away in the hysterical squeals of Democrats at the feeding trough. They don't want to discuss them because it will reveal the poverty of their solutions and their lack of insight.

The denied Democrats any say for years...and look where we ended up. Now STFU and stop whining!

Um, who controlled the House and Senate for the last two years? Who sponsored the No Child Left Behind act?
If you're going to lie, at least do so in a way that is convincing, not in a way that everyone can immediately recognize as a lie.

Sponsored the Child act? An ACT is useless if left unfunded. Anotherv compassionate conservative gets hoisted on their own petard.

conclusion: The GOP deosn't care about reforming the health care system for Americans if it means making the Democrats look good.

Actually, everybody agrees that the health insurance industry needs some reform. We just dont think we need to "transform" a system that works pretty well for 200,000,000 Americans overnight. Something about the unintended consequences of transforming 1/6th of our economy overnight, as opposed to reasoned and incremental change is bothersome.

The GOP and American coinservatives have fought every incremental change ever proposed. The right in America is for a sick America because they worship at teh altar of profit and they hate anyone who is different.

sickaroundtheworld......

When you lie you really need to make it sound convincing. Check out the GOP proposals. Doesnt look like fighting incremental change to me.

Universal health care has worked everywhere? Yes, everywhere that imports medical technology and drugs invented in the USA. Not one country has implimented universal health care without being dependent on the technology and research developed by the the USA's capitalist medical system. We have given and sold our advancements, we have educated their doctors. The fact of history is the whole world has benifited from the medical profession, the hospitals, our universities, and our drugs. All developed under a capitalist system.

The GOP proposal does not include one of the most popular elements of the Democrats' plan -- a ban on denying coverage to people with preexisting conditions.
A BIG FUCK YOU to the American public.

No, the fuck you is going to come if that shit actually passes. What do you suppose will happen to rates for people without pre-existing conditions?
Pre-existing conditions aren't just some preference of the insurance companies. They are statistical risks that have to be factored into pricing insurance policies. The risk cannot be legislated away, it has to be paid for somehow.
And who do you suppose will be on the hook for it?

cut out profit in the medical insurance industry. There is no reasonable idea why we 'need' profits generated to pay a fucking hospital bill. Cut out the blood sucking middle man and chop off his invisible hand.
