the truth is i have recently notice a lot of people going on about gay being the new black and frankly i am tired of it. not because i hate gay people but because i hate when gay people i know keep trying to get me to admit that our two struggles are exactly alike. recently my gay uncle just returned from the states and i have got to say being black and gay in america has its problems. for instance he has been refused entry several times to gay clubs with mainly white people and cant remember how many times he and his black friends have been asked for to show id's while their white counterparts walked right into the gay clubs. all i want are peoples opinions about racism in the gay community and if it is widely believed that gay is the new black i dont want to start a racial or homophobic hate thread so please behave urselfs

If gay people are trying to get you to admit your two struggles areexactly alike, they are crazy. If gay people are trying to get you to see how many similarities you share, and you do not understand where they are coming from, you are deaf, dumb and blind.

It is very, dangerous to be gay in the world in certain situations. We've all heard the stories and seen the images. The term would be 'horrific' when trying to describe how some situations end up.

Years ago I had business dealings with many bars. many of them gay bars. What I observed and know from conversations with black gay men and women, is that in cities and towns where there is racial strife or where blacks are a minority, they are treated as second class citizens as are gays in many of the same places.

I hope this post helped. I doubt you'll get very many civil or rational responses here. This thread is an American thread.

ps, I doubt that gay is the new black. Gay is the old gay. Gays need take no back seat to blacks when it comes to discrimination and hate. As a matter of fact it is the black community that is outright hostile to gays.
