Dean Is Making A Lot of Noise But Not The Type The Dems Want to Hear
By Jack Kelly
June 10, 2005

Excerpts from article:

We are, I fear, in the last days of Howard Dean's tenure as chairman of the Democratic National Committee. It was too good to last. Party chairmen are supposed to raise money and keep their mouths shut. Dean has been failing on both counts.

Democrats who hold elective office have tried to put distance between themselves and Dean's comments.

"I don't think the statement (Dean) made was a helpful statement," said House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi.

"The rhetoric is counterproductive," said Sen. Joe Biden.

"I don't agree with him," said John Edwards, former senator and vice presidential candidate.

When Dean visited Arizona recently, that state's Democratic governor, Janet Napolitano, couldn't find room on her busy schedule to meet with him.

"Dean disappoints Democrats at both ends of spectrum," wrote the Baltimore Sun's Jules Witcover, who normally would rather undergo a deep root canal without anesthesia than criticize a Democrat.

"Most Republicans are not coupon clippers," said former Democratic operative Susan Estrich in her syndicated column. "They go to work and earn a day's pay like the rest of us. Hearing Howard Dean say otherwise not only offends Republicans, but also moderates and independents who have no taste for the class warfare or the strident liberalism that Howard Dean is selling."'

God I hope he's not on his way out. He's been doing to much LOVELY damage to the democrats to end it now.

He's showing America and the rest of the world what the democrats are truely all about, and the rest of the dems hate to be exposed.

It's about time he's on his way out. It would have shocked me if the Dems were so stupid to keep him on for another year. His rhetoric only inflames Dems and Reps alike, and doesn't appeal to anyone who wouldn't vote Dem anyways. They will probably replace him with a moderate Dem, someone who has some good ties to business and will try to counter the extremism under Dean. Maybe they'll put Gore or Lieberman there.

GORE??!!

Oh yeah... that would be good move. Replace one rabid, screaming, extremist, loser with ANOTHER ONE! LMFAO!

This shows where the dems are, struggling even to keep the base. What's also sad is that this is how all insane libs think and THEY are the core of the party. That's the dirty secret.

STIFLE YOURSELF
Democratic Party chairman Howard Dean traveled to Capitol Hill on Thursday for what amounted to a visit to the political woodshed. Meeting with Senate Democrats, Dean was essentially told to hire a couple of speechwriters and stick to a script.

Dean had been invited to the meeting before his last public embarrassment, when he claimed the Republican Party was nothing more than a bunch of Christian, white males, and while he expected some kind of a tongue lashing from his Democratic colleagues, he also had come prepared to lecture them on party communication and coordination.

"He hasn't been happy with the support the DNC has been getting from the Hill," says a DNC adviser to Dean. "He feels he and the party are being given short shrift."

Dean never got the chance to unload.

Democrats privately have been happy with Dean's red-meat-but-no-brain comments, which have given the mainstream media plenty to report on, while allowing them publicly to disavow Dean's dementia.

"You have to understand the relationship between the Democrats and the mainstream media," says a Democratic political strategist. "Dean says outrageous things about Republicans, then the MSM reports on that crazy Howard Dean, then, being mainstream media, they report on Tom DeLay or something. On some level, there are a lot of Democrats who think that Howard Dean is helping us, if only because it disguises the fact that our House and Senate guys have nothing to say and no ideas."

I agree with the "no-brain" comment, but I don't get the "red-meat". His maniacal comments are lunatic fringe, period.

Lunatic Fringe is what's in charge of the Democratic Party. Dean is not talking "fringe". Sadly, that's where the "donkey" party has truly ended up.

There is no middle road or moderate power base in the Democratic party.

The Democratic Party has degenerated into a Neo-Socialist party, that finds it's base in pessimism, hypocrisy, and wealth redistribution. It's only strengths ly in finding fault, and generating class envy. Their answer to problems is antithetical, as they promote raising taxes to help the poor, but only, hurt the middle class and poor. i.e. increasing gas taxes.....etc.

Just my opinion.

Dean Is the Wrong Person to Head Democratic Party
Commentary by Ted Rueter
[email protected]
June 17, 2005

Howard Dean is the poster boy of the Bush-hating, anti-war cultural left, who are mad as hell at President Bush and aren't going to take it anymore. And he is a disaster as chairman of the Democratic National Committee.

The high-decibel former governor recently stated that "Republicans all behave the same, and they all look the same. It's pretty much a white Christian party." He said that many Republicans "have never made an honest living in their lives," and that "I hate Republicans and everything they stand for." He said that "this is a struggle between good and evil, and we are the good." He did an impression of Rush Limbaugh that included the sound of a person snorting cocaine. He cracked that Tom DeLay "ought to go back to Houston where he can serve his jail sentence."

Commenting on Dean's recent fumbles, House Speaker Dennis Hastert quipped, "Last week's scandal is Deep Throat. This week's scandal is Dean throat - and apparently Dean likes the taste of his own foot."

In his 2004 presidential campaign, Gov. Dean pursued a "gaffe-a-day" approach. He proclaimed, "I still want to be the candidate for guys with Confederate flags in their pickup trucks" - thereby offending both Southerners and African-Americans. He made the ridiculous claim that "I'm the only candidate who speaks about race before white audiences." He asserted that he had "a special relationship" with the black community because "I had two African-American roommates in college." He said that if he didn't win the Democratic nomination, his supporters would "certainly not" vote "for a conventional Washington politician." He claimed that his "closest living relative" in the armed forces was his brother Charlie - even though Charlie died in 1974 while touring Laos as an anti-war activist.

And, of course, there was Dean's "I Have a Scream" speech after the Iowa caucuses.

In addition, Dean appears to have a shaky understanding of foreign affairs. After the overthrow of Saddam Hussein, Dean commented, "I suppose that's a good thing." He declared that the United States will not always have the strongest military. He said that we "should also do our best" not "to "prejudge" where Osama bin Laden is guilty of war crimes. He stated that "it doesn't matter" what authority puts bin Laden on trial.

Regarding the Middle East, the former Vermont governor opined that the United States "shouldn't choose sides" and should be "even-handed" between Israel and the Arabs. (He professed not to know that this is code for "putting pressure on Israel to make concessions.") He called on Israel to unilaterally dismantle settlements. He referred to Hamas terrorists as "soldiers."

Sometimes Dean's foreign policy statements are simply bizarre. In December 2003, Dean made repeated references to "the Soviet Union." In June 2003, he conceded that he had no idea how many soldiers serve in the U.S. military. Dean has compared the Bush administration to the Taliban. He said it was an "interesting theory" that President Bush had advance warning of the September 11 attacks.

Chairman Dean is a loose cannon. His rhetorical assaults are certain to restrict the Democratic base, not expand it. In particular, insulting the other party's voters is a very poor strategy.

Dean has also failed as a party fundraiser. In the first quarter of 2005, the Democratic National Committee raised $14.1 million, compared to $32.3 million for the Republican National Committee. At present, the DNC has $7.2 million in the bank, compared to $26.2 for the RNC.

Howard Dean is the wrong person to head the Democratic party. He needs to go.
