If there is some hidden group behind the scenes pulling the strings, it's only logical that they would play both sides. Left-wing or right-wing socialism: which would you prefer? Get people asking the wrong questions (about retarded non-issues) and you don't have to give any answers. Get your two puppets to bicker about something juicy and sensationalistic (gay marriage), and you don't have to answer questions about boring stuff like say, the Federal Reserve.
