Is America Breaking Up?

America isn't breaking up, but it's going through a difficult change. An entire political party has been subverted by the religious right.

Only a total, drooling moron of the lowest order could believe that replacing science with religion or challenging science with religious dogma is good for the country. And yet, that is exactly what many on the right want to do. What's worse, it's not even seriously challenged within the Republican party. In fact, despite the obvious damage to the country, it seems to be promoted.

What you do with science is certainly a matter for debate, but the fruits of science are based on data. Republicans don't seem to understand that one simple fact.

Add their increasing disdain for higher education, or any education and their dwindling numbers and you have a shrinking minority kicking and screaming it's way into oblivion.

It's even more difficult for them because they just came off of a period when they controlled both houses, the presidency and the Supreme Court. During that time, they have been responsible for the deaths of thousands of Americans and the maiming of tens of thousands of Americans as well as the destruction of the economy, the incompetence of Katrina, they tore up the Justice Department and the EPA. They have made the rest of the world fear and despise us. And, they let go the greatest mass murderer in American History and supported the destruction of the Christian people in Iraq. Everything they have touched has been a disaster.

Anyone who questioned this home grown terrorism has been called a terrorist.

So America isn't "breaking up", but it's trying to turn away from this disastrous direction we were led into by the religious right wing.

Uh, Dean, not even addressing your DNC talking points, the Religious Right is becoming less irrelevant. Tell me how many people thought "Moral Issues" was the hot button topic of 2008, compared to 2004?

I'm asking YOU.

A couple gay legislations in a couple states was as far as the "moral" thing went last year.

Morality and the War on Terror got Bush 4 more years.

What got Obama in?

What got Obama in? A combination of the deaths of thousands of Americans and the maiming of tens of thousands of Americans as well as the destruction of the economy, the incompetence of Katrina, the torn up Justice Department and the EPA. The fact that the rest of the world fears and despises us. And, they let go the greatest mass murderer in American History and supported the destruction of the Christian people in Iraq.

Those aren't DNC talking points. Those are the cold hard facts. There is nothing there that Republicans could possibly defend.

What's worse, they continue this attempt at the destruction of this country. Where are Republican proposals beyond, "I hope he fails"? There are none. They don't exist.

We want our country back? Well, it's our country too and we are tired of seeing it trashed.

In other words, the religious right had very little to zero impact on last year's election.

Thanks for your concession.

Um nope What got Obama in was McCains embrace of Tarp and Obama's apparently distancing himself from it at that time.

McCain didn't know whether he was coming or going. He wasn't religious-y enough so he brought Palin in, that annoyed/shocked right leaning people with brains.

Flashback 1991: Gephardt Called Bush's Speech to Students 'Paid Political Advertising'

As Barack Obama prepares a nationwide broadcast to America's students next Tuesday, it has been revealed that Democrats complained in 1991 when then President George H. W. Bush broadcast a speech from a Northwest Washington junior high school.

In fact, the House Majority leader at the time, Dick Gephardt (D-Mo.), said "The Department of Education should not be producing paid political advertising for the president, it should be helping us to produce smarter students."

Such was reported [1] by the Washington Post on October 3, 1991 (h/t KY3 Political Notebook [2] via Chuck Todd):

House Democrats criticized President Bush yesterday for using Education Department funds to produce and broadcast a speech that he made Tuesday at a Northwest Washington junior high school.

The Democratic critics accused Bush of turning government money for education to his own political use, namely, an ongoing effort to inoculate himself against their charges of inattention to domestic issues. The speech at Alice Deal Junior High School, broadcast live on radio and television, urged students to study hard, avoid drugs and turn in troublemakers.

"The Department of Education should not be producing paid political advertising for the president, it should be helping us to produce smarter students," House Majority Leader letter [3] concerning this event, one has to assume it's costing the Department a great deal of money.

As if there weren't enough threads on that subject...

We're hopefully in the process of choking out liberalism for awhile.

Indeed. Witness what's going on in DC today? Around the Country? The people are fighting back and justly so. The disease of Liberalism/Statism/Marxism is on notice BY the people.

It would be nice to ask some of those people "fighting back" why they didn't come out in droves when Bush decided to fight two UNFUNDED wars, reduce taxes at the same time, allowed a multi-bilion dollar UNFUNDED Medicare drug bill to pass, and never vetoed a single spending bill in eight years, all of which were literally loaded with earmarks. Why no massive protests over "what it's costing the taxpayer" then?

Right, Good job spewing the talking points.

An astroturfer I see? What talking points? Been watching what's going on in DC and around the country today? This past August?

Strange that one cannot see the wart on their nose when it makes them go crosseyed...but then you're probably one of the ones with their hands out and on Welfare and thinks everyone OWES them a living and "free stuff" at the expense of others sweat equity.

You're dismissed.

Oh yes, probableeeeeeeeeeee. Another fucking talking point compliments of FAUX and Coultergeisters. Don't recognize one when you see one? Pathetic.

The religious right either did not vote or threw its votes to Obama. That is why the GOP did not win. The social values group as a whole has splintered. They feel betrayed rightfully by the GOP.

BHO and gang now are luring them with health care reform, and he is succeeding beyond his wildest dreams. With out the SV voters, the neo-econs and the neo-imperialists are an incredibly small minority. So they can run around screaming and hating and whining and red-facing, and the rest of America just nods its collective head and says, "Thank you, Jesus, you have isolated the trash out there. Now take it away, please.

This country was founded on Liberal principles. What could be more liberal than the forcing out of a colonial monarchy and a global hegemony?

Pat conveniently leaves out stuff he doesn't like. He's a xenophobic drone that pines for the 50's. He's found a rut he likes and stays in it. His grasp/twist on history is very skewed.

This is where you are confused.

Today's liberals are nothing like any liberals from even JFK's time. JFK would be a republican today.

So don't even try to compare the founders to the shrieking moonbats of of today. Especially with America-hating fucks like Soros bank-rolling your whole little lib utopia movement.

But you're gone too far now.
2010 is coming quickly. So much the worse for you, so much the better for America!

:muahaha:

More talking points directly from FAUX watchers. Is there ever a thread discussing liberalism v. conservatism where George Soros doesn't get tossed in the ring for the rabid dogs to gnaw on? Of course ignored is the fact that Texas oil money finances the Republican party, and the United States Chamber of Commerce promotes corporate welfare, together with the greedy bastards on Wall Street who take their profits and stuff it in offshore or Swiss banks. But the country sucks now, all because of George Soros. Yeah, right...

Is America, too, breaking up?

I like Pat but the only ones breaking up are the Republican party. America knows what it collectively wants and the Democrats are trying to give that to them.

Riiiight!

You have all the votes, just go for it then. What's stopping you?

Because they're not Republicans, who would and who did.
