The same thing is true in China. The Great Economic Revival has probably bypassed 60% of the population, and with no environmental controls in place ....................... they live in what would make our worst inner-city ghetto look like Beverly Hills.

Our business leaders have found Nirvana. A horde of cheap labor to whom living 1,000 feet further away from an open sewer is "movin' on up to the East Side" ................. therefore, no need to pay them much. A dollar a day is enough.

And they don't WANT it fixed.

Many right-wing economic thinkers want you to live in their "eat your vegetables - people in China would be happy to have them" philosophy.

This isn't China. This is the United States.

We should do better than that.

Actually, China is now staring down the barrel of the opposite population problem. Within a few decades they will be dealing with a rapidly aging and shrinking population.

There are in fact environmental protection laws in China.

No idea what you even meant by that "inner-city ghetto" thing. While mass migrations to the large cities is historic in scope, the majority of China's poorest live in the countryside.
