Trump Won’t Release His Taxes, Says Top Aide

“It has nothing to do with Russia,” campaign chairman Paul Manafort said.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will not be releasing his tax returns, his top aide said Wednesday on “CBS This Morning.”

“Mr. Trump has said that his taxes are under audit and he will not be releasing them,” Paul Manafort, Trump’s campaign chairman, said.

Addressing questions about whether Trump has financial ties to Russia, Manafort said Trump’s decision to break with tradition and not release his taxes “has nothing to do with Russia, it has nothing to do with any country other than the United States and his normal tax auditing process.”

The Trump campaign is under growing scrutiny for its business connections with Russia and for Trump’s friendly attitude toward Russian President Vladimir Putin. Emails from the Democratic National Committee were released last week at a favorable time for Trump, and the U.S. government suspects Russian hackers were responsible for the breach.

Manafort has worked for the pro-Russian president of Ukraine, and another Trump aide, Carter Page, has worked as a banker in Russia and did deals for the state-controlled oil company there. Trump has repeatedly said flattering things about Putin, and at least one of his hotels was financed by questionable funds from Eastern Europe.

Trump has said before that he won’t release his taxes because his tax returns are being audited by the IRS. However, the head of the IRS has said that being under audit in no way prevents Trump from releasing his tax returns.

“If you’re being audited, and you want to do something else, share that information with your returns, you can do that,” IRS Commissioner John Koskinen said in a CSPAN interview in February.

What is Trump hiding? We don't even know if Trump really is being currently audited. He may even be lying about that.

IRS chief: 'Rare' for taxpayer to be audited several years in a row, as Trump claims

IRS Commissioner John Koskinen said Friday that it would be unlikely for a taxpayer to be audited for multiple years in a row, a day after Donald Trump maintained the agency had audited him a dozen years running.

Koskinen, in an interview with C-SPAN’s “Newsmakers,” stressed repeatedly that he couldn’t comment directly on Trump’s personal tax situation. But the IRS chief also strongly suggested that the scenario Trump laid out in Thursday’s GOP debate was improbable.

“It would be rare for anyone to be audited every year,” Koskinen said in the interview, which will air Sunday. If there were no issues following an audit, Koskinen added, “it’s a number of years — two or three at least — before you hear from us again."

Trump said during Thursday’s debate that he couldn’t release his tax returns because he was being audited, and that “I’ve been audited every year. Twelve years or something like that.” Following the debate, Trump added in a CNN interview that the IRS might be auditing him because he’s a "strong Christian.”

"... IF there were no issues ..." precisely.

And IF there ARE issues then the IRS keep auditing and auditing over and over until the taxpayer cleans up their act and starts submitting more "conservative" (no pun intended) tax returns.

Trump's sleazy campaign chairman Paul Manafort knows it would be politically toxic to allow Trump to release his tax returns.

You know...............even when Nixon was being audited back in 1973, he still released his tax returns.

The only reason Trump doesn't do so is because he's afraid that if he does it before the election, he's going to lose.

I am not a Trump supporter. Having said that:

1. Releasing tax information is not a requirement for running for president.

2. His lawyers reconmended that he does not release them. Why give the IRS thousands of extra eyes to try to find something wrong?

From the OP:

However, the head of the IRS has said that being under audit in no way prevents Trump from releasing his tax returns.

Lol, right and there is nothing to prevent Trump from sticking his head in a noose either.

Only a brain dead hack like yiou would say that a person should release their tax returns prior to completing a a Democrat harassment IRS audit.

OP hypoctitical - no .pdf file of shitbird's personal tax forms arrached.
Great idea.

If anyone wants to slam on Trump for not releasing his tax returns, first they need to release their own tax returns and then also assplain why Hillary Clintons ONE speech to Goldman Sachs was worth $650,000.

What is the official or legal limit one can receive for a speech?

Lol, you are such a fucking idiot. There isno limit, dumbass, but the question arises 'How can Hillary possibly be taking this money without any strings? What has she sold herself and her term in office for?'

But of course a brain dead moron like yourself doesnt axe those kinds of questions without permission or it being on the Talking Points memo.
