IRS rules & power to collect fees on Obamacare

Obama rubbing the IRS into our lives to that extent is the equivalent of the 30's when we had a few dictators sending suspects to the interrigation room. Yes or No !! do you have health insurance?!!! NEIN?? Then the assistant thug slaps your face with a glove or puts out a cigarette on your face. Hey,,,isnt that pretty close to the chicago way?

Romneycare works great, and ACA is better. All your fears are total Pubcrappe. Thanks Mitt.

The Massachusetts law is different in important ways from the plan that Romney pushed as governor. Few voters know, for example, that Romney strongly opposed the employer mandate and wanted an escape from the individual mandate -- allowing people to instead be able to post a bond if they were uninsured and had big medical bills. When Romney signed the law, he believed it contained the escape hatch, but legislators removed it before final passage.

Romney vetoed eight provisions of the Massachusetts bill, and every one of his vetoes was overridden by the legislature. Should Romney have known this was likely? Yes. Should he have known exactly what he was signing? Absolutely. But voters may be more forgiving if he tells them he wanted to give citizens and employers a way out.

Why did he push Romneycare? The state was at risk of losing $385 million in federal Medicaid money, and the Bush administration insisted Massachusetts make changes to get more residents covered and keep the money flowing.

Romney also wanted to find a way to make it easier for small businesses and individuals to get insurance that would be portable from job to job. To get around federal tax law restrictions and to make health insurance portable, he adopted the Heritage Foundation's proposal to create exchanges that would allow individuals to have portable insurance and pay premiums with pre-tax dollars.

TODAY ROMNEY SAYS, "The market can work to solve our health care needs." The policy recommendations on his campaign website back up his perspective on patient-centered reform. But primary voters aren't. He needs to get off the defensive and take charge of this issue.

Here's a three-step plan:

Step 1: Focus on Repeal of Obamacare.

That's not entirely accurate. A person who makes below a defined amount will be eligible for government provided insurance. Just because someone makes a little more than that doesn't mean that they can afford health insurance. Specifically, a single person who makes $15,000 a year pre-tax (would come out to about $12,500 a year after tax) would not qualify for government insurance, and would be required to pay for his own health insurance. I wouldn't exactly say that a person making that much money is going to be able to easily afford insurance.

Someone making $15,000 would qualify for Medicaid under the ACA (although that's at his state's discretion after yesterday). But if you want to imagine a person who is just above the Medicaid income eligibility threshold, that person then becomes eligible for a tax credit to help pay for private insurance purchased through an exchange. If he's just over the threshold, he'd have to pay 3 percent of his income in premiums and the rest of the cost of the plan (up to the cost of the second cheapest silver plan in his market) is covered by the premium tax credit.

And who is the lucky bureaucrat that gets to decide what income is 'sufficient'?

None. The affordability exemption (and other income-based exceptions to the mandate) were written into the statute by Congress.

That's right comrade, most Americans will be forced into a mediocre system and if they want really good care they'll have to pay a lot more extra... It's a boondoggle you unthinking moron.

There are so many more solutions that don't cost money and actually help reform health care so that Americans can have good medical choices.

Again, what in the world are you babbling about?

Someone making $15,000 would qualify for Medicaid under the ACA.

The law makes Medicaid available to those who make less than 133% of the federal poverty line. That is slightly less than $15,000 for an individual with no independents.

Liberals talk 24/7 out their ass "fearing" the Govt spying on them but Obamacare will now create a nationwide database between the IRS and Homeland Security to get information about YOU, so they can find out if you're lying about being employed and having health insurance.

So liberals didn't like Buuuuuuuush spying on terrorists trying to kill Americans, but it's ok if Obamination spies on you to see if you have "really" have healthcare insurance.

here's how this breaks down:

An adult who does not have health insurance by 2014 will be fined $95.00 or 1% of their income.

By 2016 the penalty increases to $695.00 for an adult and up to $2085.00 or 2.5% of their income whichever is greater.

The biggest fear for me, is this is the start of a new tax and entitlement.
Anybody ever know a tax that didn't increase ? Once you start what will now be the largest entitlement, it will never go away and it will only grow and take more from the workers to give to the free loaders who's goal in life is to pop out kids and get on welfare.

Obama and the Dems deceived us because they knew if they ever refered to this POS as a tax, the majority of Americans would never go for it.

The only way to now kill this serpent, is to cut off it's head by voting out King Obama.
If he is re-elected, and people begin getting addicted to this new entitlement, like illicit drugs, we are stuck and it is here to stay.

Someone making $15,000 would qualify for Medicaid under the ACA.

The law makes Medicaid available to those who make less than 133% of the federal poverty line. That is slightly less than $15,000 for an individual with no independents.

Two points:

1) The Medicaid expansion happens in 2014, at which point $15,000 will almost certainly fall under that threshold.

2) It doesn't really matter anyway, as the ACA allows a standard 5 percent income disregard in making eligibility determinations for this, so Medicaid is effectively available to anyone under 138% of the poverty threshold. Even going by the 2012 thresholds, someone making $15,000 is safely below that limit.

Back to the point: someone who slips over the Medicaid eligibility threshold then becomes available for income-sensitive subsidies for private insurance in the exchanges--their contribution to premiums is capped at a percentage of their income, and the lower their income, the lower that cap will be.

yes, it is a fact. (reality) and already said it is in the Obamacare. You will buy Ins if you do not have any, or IRS wil fine you. You have to state on your tax return what Insurance company you are insured with and if IRS checks and you do not have any, you pay the fine. This Obamacare forces you, plus it does raise taxes on everyone, since the taxpayer has to pay for for immigrants and illegals who live here. Business will be hurt and taxed more also. The OBama care is going to destroy what is left of the economy. People are already struggling and they will suffer more hardships under this Obamacare. Your freedoms will be taken away on anything. Obama gave millions to IRS to hire more for when Obamacare is implemented.
