So here is a question I would pose to any real leader (not a Barack Obama or a Donald Trump, but someone like a Rand Paul or Ronald Reagan):

If the IRS is completely and totally illegitimate (as it appears to be) what about moving everything back to the states (as the Constitution dictates anyway) and allowing them to control taxes. You eliminate the federal socialism nonsense, allowing the states to handle it all. Everything is broken down among 50 state governors and 50 bodies of state legislatures so there is more micro-management which means less waste, fraud, and abuse. Then, the federal government gets the states to agree to "kick up" the tax dollars the federal government requires to function. So for instance, lets say the federal government requires $100 to operate (trying to keep this simple for the slower among us). There are 50 states, so each state is responsible for kicking $2 of their state generated tax revenue up to the federal government.

That seems like an exponentially better plan to me. Power returns to the states, which makes power return to the people. The federal government becomes exponentially more Constitutional again and their future opportunities for abuses is greatly limited. In addition, the American people have exponentially more flexibility when it comes to their income. They are free to move between states that offer the tax rates they are comfortable with. Liberals, who believe so much in taxes and government, can move to a state with a 50% income tax rate and tons of government programs. Conservatives can move to a state with 10% tax rates and very limited government programs. Literally, everybody wins. (Now despite the fact that everybody wins in this plan - watch the liberals here on USMB lose their mind because although it provides them with the socialism they so desperately desire, it prevents them from forcing that ideology on others and the only thing they desire more than socialism is power).

Um....if the IRS saw a person speeding and had the ability to stop it, yes I would expect them to take action and not ignore it so that they could pick up the nickel they spotted in the middle of the street once the speeding car went past.

When you see stuff like this, you can't help but laugh at the pro-big government liberal crowd. The waste, fraud, and abuse is never ending. And even when they are aware of the situation, the incredibly lazy people in the federal government just declare "it's not my job".

So just to be very clear here - the head of the IRS openly admitted that he is exponentially more concerned about bringing in tax revenue to the federal government than he is in preventing crime or protecting American citizens.

They are calling it good use of stolen social security numbers. They don't care that most illegal aliens are actually receiving huge refunds, in other peoples' names much of the time. They average $10,000 each in refunds by claiming kids that may or may not exist. The IRS pays first and maybe asks questions later. If they are using your identity, it could mean a bigger tax bill the next year or denial of aid or student loans.

One woman discovered that the name on her retirement account was changed to the guy using her social security number to work. Another woman was denied government aid after the death of her husband. Despite being a homemaker for decades, she was denied because she made too much money, according to tax records.

Another woman was sent a huge tax bill by the IRS and they wanted her to pay thousands for income from 3 jobs in three different states. Explaining to the IRS that she didn't work at all, let alone at 3 jobs at the same time in different states, didn't help.

If an illegal alien fails to pay "your" taxes on "your" income, you might face some serious penalties because the IRS does come after you.

This is not a victimless crime. The IRS does not notify citizens when their numbers or identity have been stolen. The SS administration is not allowed to warn people, either. The liberal lawyers stopped that. The SS cannot notify employers when their employees are using stolen identities. The left felt that it was tantamount to a deportation notice. They think it's mean to scare criminals who have stolen peoples' identities. Yea, wouldn't want that. Let the citizens suffer and pay the price.
