Iranian Athlete Defects

Not exactly a greatest honor to be part of a regime that kills its own citizens as response to conflicts.

Western progressive feminist have declared thier support for the Iranian regime's fatwa against this criminal defector....

Move over Mr Rushdie...

All liberals can do is cry or sit on their thumbs.

< Iran's only female Olympic medalist said she defected from the Islamic Republic in a blistering online letter that describes herself as “one of the millions of oppressed women in Iran.” >

Iran's Only Female Olympic Medalist Defects
Trumpenstein had nothing to do with it. Allowing her to go abroad and see the FILTH we call modern society and her thinking its better than the traditional moral society she comes from did it. She will regret it. Give her a year or 2 to see how disgusting modern society is.

This is true, and proof that the movement has nothing to do with liberation and equality. Leftist Feminism is nothing more that one of MANY subdivided factions of communism made distinct for no other reason than to lie and hide the commie agenda.

This is why all commies/socialists must fucking die.

Kill a commie for mommy!!

That makes me wonder about something.

We've mostly heard about young Iranians being very unhappy with their government.

What about older ones, my age or so? Those who did not have to travel outside of Iran to see what a modern society looked like; who can remember what they had under the Shah, and what they lost when the Khomeniacs took over. Surely, there are man older Iranians, who remember that far back, who would very much like to see their country go back to what it used to be.

Good move for her. I read this story on 3 different sites. Trump had nothing to do with it. She just wants her freedom from oppression as all humans do.

Good point. I guess that wasn't as long ago as it seems.

I suspect they went underground or died, but some of them raised their kids to want better.

It was long enough ago, that the younger protesters we're hearing about would not remember it. I'm 57, and I was a teenager when the Khomeniacs took over Iran. If I had grown up in Iran, I would surely remember what life was like under the Shah, compared to what it was like under the Khomeniacs. I guess it'd be mostly old guys, my age or older, guys in their sixties and seventies and so, perhaps too old to do much fighting themselves, but still able to teach the younger generation how to fight, and what there is to fight for.

I remember those days, but what we weren't told in high school was how the shah was put in power by our government after the CIA helped stage a coup that removed a democratically elected leader.

Iranians don't like our government either.

They don't have to. If they can free themselves from the Khomeniacs, then they can set up their own government, to their liking. Use ours as a model, if they wish, or not.

Did you know that if you discard the two letters in the name “MALCOLM X”, which are not valid Roman Numeral characters, leaving you with “MLCLMX”, and then parse that as a Roman Numeral, you get 2010 in decimal? It's kind of a roundabout way to do it, of course. Converting 2010 back to a Roman Numeral gets you “MMX”.

We gave them a great leader in the Shah, but the Iranians turned out to be a bunch of ungrateful bastards.

Yep.
It's a shame what was done to a once thriving country.

I suppose there's a certain undeniable arrogance or hubris in that claim, but that notwithstanding, it is mostly true. Iran was making huge social progress under the Shah, and evolving into a bright example for other Muslim nations as to how a Muslim-based society could best exist in modern times, reconciling traditional Muslim values with modern recognition of human rights and peaceful coexistence with other nations of other cultural backgrounds. Iran was poised to have a great influence on other Muslim nations in that part of the world, to the great benefit of all, both in those nations, and outside of them.

By any rational observation, allowing the Khomeniacs to come to power was a huge mistake. They represented the very worst of Islam, and they set the stage for violent Islamist extremism to become a nasty disease, that spread from there across the same nations that would have benefited from the influence that Iran was having under the Shah.

They were definitely headed in the right direction under the Shah but they foolishly threw all that away.
