Maybe you don't pay attention, Iranian troops have been fighting on the ground in Syria helping the Syrian Army fight both ISIS and the Al-Nusra Front for more than a year and several senior Iranian Commanders have been killed fighting ISIS in Syria.

This is part of the reason ISIS have committed the two terrorist attacks in Tehran.

There is a risk or the entire Middle East going to war. The rift between the Sunnis and Shiites is the knife edge over there and with Sunni Isis defiling Iran's holiest memorial as well as it's parliament they are seeing red and the Iranians have proven they won't hesitate to go to war. If Saudi Arabia joins the fight at some point the entire region could be engulfed. Israel would not be an unscathed spectator.
