Iran and France cancel diplomatic lunch over wine

I still do not know what a "shiraz' is -----------other than something FARSI---
-----place, decoration, style, -------so I goggled OLD WINE?

An ancient type grape, wine, from Iran. Now grown mostly in Australia or Chile

Iranian wine for Iranian dignitaries

They could have served a well aged dry shriaz vinegar at least to the Iranians

yum------sounds like a good compliment to nice buttery garlicky snails-----
snails are halal----the wine-not the vinegar------but it can sit on the table
in vinegar bottles

A popular drink i Iran is Sekahnjebin, a minty vinegar and honey drink popular in the summer

oh-----so they could do SIMILAR type stuff-------A NICE MINT JULEP----
leaves of mint at the bottom of the glass------then "muddled" with sugar
or honey-------and topped off with Kentucky bourbon. ----I would consider that
summertime delight-----something of a FUSION nature--------bourbon does have a French connotation-----mint shows up prominent in Iranian cuisine-------and honey is honey. CUISINE DIPLOMACY

A know it as a syrup, not exactly how it is made. They mix it with water and ice, not bourbon. :)
I think the mint and honey are actually part of the fermenting vinegar, not added for flavor.

It is a bit like a Kombucha tea but sweeter and with mint....apple cider vinegar, mead with water......... been a long time, not sure exactly how to describe it. It is refreshing and good for digestion.

Mint is widely used across the middle east.
