doomsday articles are always talking about a one meter rise by 2100, sometimes two meters or even six. here is the graphic representation of just half a meter. even that seems unlikely doesnt it? can you mentally plot the steepness of the lines for 1, 2 or 6 meter increases?

what amazes me is they go back and adjust their estimates down every so often when they see their latest prediction isn't coming to fruition. Do we hear about it really? Not so much in the main stream media.

So sea level has actually tracked close to the upper range of the recent IPCC TAR and AR4 predictions. That gives the IPCC cred, making such a good predictions. They only underestimated sea level rise a little.

Was that the point, to show how the IPCC predictions have been so good? After all, it gives them more concerning future predictions.

Still not improving your graph skills eh? THere's no real challenge to matching a perfectly linear observed line over a century or two.. No need to thank IPCC or TAR for wildly exaggeraging what's to come.. THey are not even close to realizing any of the accelerated climate sensitivities or warming feedbacks that they lust for in their hearts..

Answer the OP question why don'tcha? WHERE IS THE 1 meter rise by 2100???

So why didn't you just go to AR4 and find out? You know, do the liberal thing and check the source, instead of waiting for an authority figure to tell you what it really means. Since Google apparently doesn't exist in the denialist world, I'll help them out a bit.

It's really much simpler than that. The recent measurements show NO APPRECIABLE DEVIATION from a linear trend beginning at 1900.. Evidently NOT influenced much by increasing CO2 or ice melt or ANY of the disastrous feedback mechanisms that are not panning out.. To put it simply -- no models required. Because nothings really happening here other than the earth has been on warming trend since BEFORE the man-made injections of CO2 started. (70% of the SLevel rise due to thermal expansion? -- you betcha)

You clearly didn't read the link.

And why should you? Your cult told you what's true, and obviously you shouldn't risk sullying the purity of your soul by exposing it to liberal propaganda.

How fast did they expect the sea level to rise given that it takes millions of years before it is even noticed that the climate has shifted into a new reality?

the point is to show that all the predictions of a one metre or more sea level increase that we see on TV or in the papers is complete nonsense. unfortunately even the IPCC is leaving good sense behind and is projecting 50cm rise in the AR5 due out this year.

Boo Boo Kitty, he is saying the witnessed changes do not match the projections, you are trying to use the projections to argue the measured reality...

Dude... The whole reality thing just doesn't seem to work for you does it...

Lordy, lordy, another really dumb fuck chiming in. Now why don't you look at the sea level rise from 15,000 years ago until present.

Reality is that we know that we are seeing a bit of an increase in the rise. A slight bit more than predicted. Reality is that if the Arctic Sea becomes devoid of ice for a goodly portion of the summer before 2050, and the Arctic Clathrates let go, we have no idea what the sea level will be, nor what the climate will be in 2100.

"But one must say clearly that we redistribute de facto the world’s wealth by climate policy. Obviously, the owners of coal and oil will not be enthusiastic about this. One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy." -- IPCC

Quoting IPCC on Climate is like quoting Bernie Madoff on GAAP accounting

Wealth distribution in the US

Yes, redistribution of the wealth of this nation would be a good thing. The curve that both the Republicans and Democrats like would work very well, and we would see our nation in the lead again in living standard and technology.

Now back to climate change. The ocean has risen only a foot in the New York area, yet look at how much differance that made during Sandy. A meter rise would be catastrophic worldwide to present infrastructure of most seaports. A bit of planning for that eventuality might be a wise move. But we see the GOP of North Carolina passing such nonsense as a bill that would allow their planners only to consider a rise the same as in the last century. By 2020, we will see how stupid that peice of idiocy truly is.
