Yep the Slate is more of a tool the iPod more of a toy/entertainment device.

I order one. It won't ship until late April. I got the one with 3G. I want to be able to use the internet out of the home if I want to.

My wife and I both have the Kindle DX.

It's different than a laptop because of the Kindle functionality. For avid readers it's really easy and fun to use. The Kindle DX was about $500, the Apple IPAD starts about the same but it can do a lot more.

Also the reading part of it seems more fun and advanced than the Kindle.

I see my wife enjoying it even more than me, who is a more of a casual computer user, and likes reading a lot.

The IPAD makes our Kindles absolete though, which doesn't make me too happy.
