Intersting op/ed re BHO

I have never taken sides on this ideological battle between capitalists and socialists. Both camps appear to be contentious little brats fighting over the toy box. Both are merely methods for dividing ownership and income that have always been invariably mixed together. Neither capitalism nor socialism has ever existed completely on its own.

I thought lawyers were supposed to represent people and justice. Not "kick their butts"??? Isn't the butt-kicking supposed to be of other lawyers, NOT regular joes?

who on earth told you that? your job is to zealously represent ONLY your client. It's up to the OTHER GUY to represent his client well enough so that somewhere in between things work out as they're supposed to.

Bingo. I think you need a mix of both for any successful society to work...

That's why you need both. Either on its own is doomed to failure.

They represent people, not justice. The justice comes in from the way the adversarial system is set up. If you want a system where its not like that, move to France.

A lawyer wouldn't kick his ass in the sense of totally trashing him in court. They would, however, call his credibility into question or catch him rather easily if he tried to do anything tricky. That comes with defending ones client.

lol...If you want socialized medicine, etc., YOU move to France...

And track the billable hours to the nanosecond (all of which gets rounded up to the nearest thousand).........

Interesting that you would endorse such a viciously Darwinian approach to one profession, but as a loyal Democrat presumably deny it everywhere else, as in, "your job is to work for yourself, and it's up to the other guy to work for himself, instead of redistributing income through taxing and spending."

Doubly intersting that this is never the argument of most "pro bono," "civil rights" or plaintiff's attorneys. They are always about saying it's the other guy's job, the other guy's fault, etc.

Actually, I believe your job is to ensure the rights of the party you represent have not been violated. It is not your job to make a victim of child abuse who has been molested by her father feel like the suspect in order to get your client freed.
