First of all they target a specific audience based on the program, the time of day and of course the season. If you watch TV in the middle of the day you might be deluged with commercials aimed at the unemployed or the elderly or little soap operas. Remember, they are actors. Don't try this at home. Diabetes stuff seems to be big in the middle of the day and the commercial featuring guy who is so delighted about having to use a catheter for fifteen years should be viewed with a critical eye. Relax, you can make fun of the actor. They are all sleazy used car dealers trying to sell you stuff you don't want.
