1. No New Law Would Have Prevented The Las Vegas Terror Attack / Shooting

Period.

Idiot Liberal Steven Colbert pleaded with Congress in the wake of the Vegas shooting to do 'SOMETHING'; yet, he was unable to come up with any ideas when asked what should be done. He added, 'To do nothing in the wake of the Vegas shooting would be cowardice'.
- That is IGNORANCE and EMOTION talking. To ride the tsunami of emotion in the aftermath of the Vegas shooting equates to putting into action the words of former Obama Chief of Staff and failed Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel who said, 'Never let a good disaster go to waste'.

It would be opportunistically using a tragedy to push a liberal agenda / assault on the 2nd Amendment...especially when they can honestly admit that NO GUN LEGISLATION THEY COULD OFFER / WOULD PASS WOULD HAVE STOPPED THE VEGAS SHOOTING. Colbert is WRONG - to push a liberal agenda in the aftermath of the shooting just so you could say you did 'something' that will not prevent such shootings in the future would be irresponsible / partisan / Constitutionally wrong.

2. There Is No Such Thing As The 'Gun Show Loophole'

...or rather it is a 'semantic' tool used as part of a con to get ignorant Americans all worked up. Liberals would do better being honest about what they are really talking about...if THEY even know.

The issues is not a 'gun Show loophole' but rather a 'Private Seller Loophole'. Private sellers of firearms aren’t under the same standards as federally-licensed firearm dealers. Fact: In most states, private sellers (unlike federally-licensed dealers) aren’t required to conduct background checks. The transaction doesn’t have to be at a gun show and therefore, what’s being labeled as a loophole isn’t specific to gun shows. Arguably this is a straw man depending on how important one considers the semantics.

You can sometimes go to Flea Markets and buy handguns, shotguns, rifles, and AR-15s (or order one from someone who makes them) without having a background check done and without ever setting foot in a Gun Show.

The “Gun Show” Loophole: Fact or Myth? The Loophole is not a Myth

3A. No One Walks Into A Gun Store, Gun Show, Or Flea Market And Buys An 'Assault Weapon'

'Assault Weapons' are an INVENTED CLASSIFICATION that includes, by official definition, any semi-automatic that has two or more features, such as a bayonet mount, a rocket-propelled grenade-launcher mount, a folding stock or a pistol grip.

3B. Guns Are 'Modular'

Any hobbyist can easily add the features mentioned above - and more - at home, just as if they were snapping together Legos. A $99 kit can be purchased on-line to make a semi-automatic weapon an Automatic Weapon. There are many different 'accessories' you can buy - Laser Sites, Scopes, Large Capacity Magazines, as many clips as you want to buy...The Vegas Shooter even had a 'Bump Stock'.
--- WHO NEEDS AN 'AUTOMATIC WEAPON WHEN YOU HAVE A 'BUMP STOCK': A 'Bump Stock' is a non-standard stock on a weapon that slides a little to take some of the recoil from the shot but also 'uses the recoil of a semi-automatic firearm to fire multiple shots in rapid succession. The patented Slide Fire® rifle stock allows shooters to safely and accurately bump fire their rifles without compromising safety and accuracy.'

*** Legislation banning / outlawing Bump Stocks would not have prevented the Vegas shooting. Such legislation MIGHT have either reduced the number of people who were shot or simply forced the shooter to acquire the part illegally from individuals who do not obey laws.

4. Strict Gun Laws Do Not Equate To Less Gun Violence

Despite the fact that statistics can be manipulated to 'prove' almost anything you want, facts are always facts.

Despite having some of the toughest gun laws in the nation, Chicago has been on record-setting paces for gun violence in the last few years, each year out-doing the previous year. Consider the fact that 59 people were murdered in Las Vegas while 50 people shot in one weekend in Chicago is sadly NOT an extremely rare event.

August 2016 - More than 50 people were shot over another violent weekend in Chicago, a level of violence that has marked many of the summer weekends this year and has pushed the total number of people shot in the city to more than 2,600. The number of people shot during all of last year was 2,988.
-- 52 shot: Pace of gun violence in Chicago remains high over another weekend

Oct 2, 2017 - Weekend violence in Chicago leaves 32 shot, 4 fatally; The weekend violence brings to at least 2,877 the number of people shot in Chicago this year - 527 homicides (murders).

You are right that gun laws would not have prevented the attack. However bump stocks are something that needs to be looked at. If you listen to the gunfire, you would swear that a automatic weapon was used rather than a semi-automatic. That is why you had hundreds of people killed or wounded. I do not see any reason for a ordinary person to have access to this. These should be regulated like automatic weapons.

I completely agree; however, as I said, even outlawing / banning the sale / ownership of Bump Stocks would not have prevented the Vegas shooting. That does not mean politicians should not / 'can't' pass legislation to ban them - I am not saying / arguing that.
