I would agree for certain actual criminals. But we put people into jail for some stupid shit in this county.

Drug offences make up roughly 46 percent of all sentences. That is just stupid.

I do not know, my guess is that is when the War on Drugs was really stepped up. Nancy Reagan pushed the failed war on drugs more than anyone else.

Actually, incarceration rates have gone down in many states.

The question that has been posed and, in many states passed through legislation, has been regarding the lowering of sanctions for property crimes. What that tells me is that the current propaganda is classifying all people in the lower income bracket or in poverty as criminals. It avoids justice for people in poverty.

There are a lot of diversionary programs that are already out there.
