Inalienable Rights

- The Right to face your accusor
- The Right to a fair and speedy trial
- The Right to an attorney
- The Right to remain silent
- The Right to humane treatment

These are the rights our founding fathers fought for. Not some petty grievances because a political party other than your own is in power. Where was the TeaParty when the Government was trampling on basic human rights?

Those rights are reserved for the citizens of the United States of America. Show me when and where the govt. trampled on these rights.

And yet not a single one of those has been violated. By the way? The "right" to Humane treatment was not part of anything the Government originally agreed to.

Clinton approved Courts that meet in secret and remove citizenship from naturalized citizens with out those citizens even knowing they were being tried. Clinton approved Courts that take your money and then require you to prove your innocent to get it back.

You do remember Innocent until proven guilty don't you?

The Patriot act has been approved by Democrats since its inception and Obama has signed it into law as well.

Those rights were routinely ignored by the previous administration. We still hold men in prison without charges and have not conducted trials in over seven years. These human rights violations make our motives suspect around the world.
The prohibition agqainst cruel and unusual punishment was approved by our founding fathers

Again...where were the TeaBaggers then?

Well, if we're still holding men in prison why aren't you griping about the Obama Administration? Don't we still have a prison facility at Gitmo, despite Obama's promise over a year ago that he would close it? What's wrong here?

FDR held Germans as POWs indefinintely as well. He never charged them. THey never had a trial. They weren't given their rights. WHere was your outrage then?

Not to mention the Japanese internment camps!

Where are you now that the federal government is still trampling on peoples rights?

I was right there protesting the patriot acts atrocious violations of rights and in an unreleated issue I was also right there protesting Bush's defecit spending and unfunded program introductions.

So I ask you....WHERE ARE YOU NOW?!?!?!?! Where have you gone now that Obama is in office and Bush isn't?

Even if I didn't wake up until obama is it bad for people to finally be concerned about stuff they should have been paying attention to years and decades ago?

We were always there but you Leftists & Neocons just weren't paying attention. That's why the Tea Parties got started in the first place. You both are starting to pay attention now though huh? Both of you don't care too much about Freedom & Liberty in the end. Freedom & Liberty is a matter of convenience with you Leftists & Neocons. You both pull that rabbit out of the hat when you want to trick the people again. Socialists/Progressives and the Neocons are both destroying our nation. That's what the Tea Parties are all about. We were always there and it's you guys who support the Constitution only when it's convenient. See ya on Election Day.

Last I checked the Obama regime is whacking civilians in Pakistan and elsewhere with drones at an alarming rate. As well they are proposing that you have no expectation of privacy in chat rooms, on cellphones, with regard to banking records etc. So spare us the Bush and Cheney bashing; it really is getting tired. The left's record on respecting "basic human rights" isn't all that great.

I still expect Gitmo to be closed, It is a scar on the once proud reputation of the US.

How long was "indefinitely" for German soldiers? 2-3 years? They were given rights under the Geneva convention

Citizenship has nothing to do with it....read the Constitution. Any foreigner is provided the same rights as an American when accused of a crime

It's been over a year. Why is Obama waiting so long?
It was indefinite when they were captured. No one knew how long the war would last. They were given rights because they were fighting in uniform. If you don't fight in uniform you don't get rights. Capeche?

Well Rightwinger?

WHERE ARE YOU NOW THAT OBAMA IS IN OFFICE DOING THE SAME THINGS?

I have already posted. I oppose Gitmo regardless of who is President. I think all remaining prisoners should be tried or released.

I opposed the Patriot act under Bush and still oppose it now that Obama is President

No ..

You are either a POW or a criminal. each is entitled to certain protections from a civilized society. To leave them in political limbo because you can't decide where they fall is criminal

Why, if the founders believed we have inalienable rights granted by God would they believe that God only wanted US citizens to have those rights?

God is an American?

We are in a different war from all other wars, against NGOs. Rules have to evolve as they go.
Were the Nazis at Nuremburg POWs or criminals?

The Nazis killed over 6 million jews. They were not waterboarded. They were not taken to some remote location to be tortured. They were provided with legal representation and given a fair trial

Thats a fundamental difference in the "TeaBaggers" and you lefties who practice getting teabagged. We believe we also have a right to self defense as individuals and as a nation. We have a rigth to not be blown up by an Islamic whackjob.

So, if our military decides that enemy combatant needs to be held to protect this country, so be it. We dont' give a fuc* if that makes our motives "suspect" around the world. Maybe you lefties care what a guy in a French wine shop says about you, but we really don't. These combatants, and the homelands they come from, wouldn't have a Gitmo in their homeland, because they would just kill their captives. Here, they live better than they did there, and better than many poor people in the US already. "Cruel"? I think not. Safer for us? Absolutely.

So, there you go. WE believe in the rights of our citizens, including the right to self defense. Gitmo is a self defense action. Consider it our nations own concealed weapons permit to keep YOU and ME safe from Ahkmed Jihad Durka Durka Muhammed. But, I'm sure you'd rather roll the dice on safety than dare dream of harming what Pierre the cheese vendor in Paris thinks of you, right?

You didnt answer the question. As usual you can't give a straight answer to a simple question. Why do I bother?

Interesting post...

Teabaggers believe they have a right not to get blown up by Islamic whackjobs....then where were the teabaggers when 3000 Americans lost their lives in terrorist attacks under BusH?

Hypocrites one and all

Dose the phrase "provide for the common defense" ring any bells in your hollow head? And where were the liberals when Japan attacked us at Pearl Harbor? Where were they when the Maine was blown up?
Progressives like you will sit back and blame the US for attacks agtainst us and then do everything you can to insure they happen again.
This is the difference: the right loves Americans, the left despises them.
