In Tax Reform, It’s Republicans vs. Economists

During the past four decades, ever since Reagan sold the American public his “Reaganomics” snake oil, knowledgeable economists have grown old and died trying to show the truth about Republicans’ trickle down lie. But, conservatives chose to remain ignorant and even fought to make trickle down fail.

Conservatives fought to make trickle down fail? Yes. Conservatives fight to keep wages low, they fight any increase in minimum wage, they fight to weaken unions, and they fight any attempt to pass regulations that provide universal guidelines concerning benefit packages. They’ve successfully increased income inequality over the past four decades, forcing more and more middle income families below the poverty level.

With the help of conservatives, Sam Brownback’s ultimate GOP tax cut experiment went full on after he was elected in 2010. “Brownback predicted those tax cuts would be ‘a shot of adrenaline into the heart of the Kansas economy,’ making his state the best place in the country to start a business, creating tens of thousands of new jobs, and attracting tens of thousands of new residents to the Sunflower State. Further, ‘an expanding economy and growing population’ would ‘directly benefit our schools and local governments.’ Translation: a revenue boom would ensue.”

But as economists predicted, none of this happened. Economists predicted the GOP’s tax cutting brainchild would fail when it was first implemented by Reagan, and it did. Economists predicted the same system would fail when Dubya tried it, and it did. Economists predicted Brownback’s ultimate experiment would fail, and it did. The common thread running through all these failures has been ballooning deficits and income inequality.

Jump to 2017, and we have the Big Orange Idiot and the congressional Republicans determined to prove their tax cuts lead to runaway deficits...again. This time to the tune of $1.5 trillion. ($1,500,000,000,000.00)

This will kill any hope of repairing the infrastructure billionaires and Big Business need to increase profits. Many subsidies Big Business depends on to raise their bottom lines will be decreased or eliminated. And, of course, safety net programs so many conservatives in red states need to put food on their tables and a roof over their heads will face massive cuts. (But, the last one is a good thing, conservatives always vote against their own interests, and this bit of karma is funny. Research has proven time and again blue states subsidize red states:(https://wallethub.com/edu/states-most-least-dependent-on-the-federal-government/2700/)

Over decades, economists warned the Republicans repeatedly. The Republican majority in the Kansas legislature declared Brownback’s experiment a dismal failure. But will that convince the congressional Republicans and the Big Orange Idiot their new tax cut plan for the very rich is folly? Never. The fiscally responsible Republicans are anything but.

Average Americans can expect another gigantic screwing by the GOP when they pass the massive tax cuts for the 0.1% included in “Trumpcare”, and the even greater cuts when the crooks pass this round of tax reform.

Fortunately, low income conservatives, which comprise the majority of the GOP’s voter base, will take it in the shorts worse than anyone else. They are the least educated, possess the lowest level of job skills, and are the least employable. Again, a bit of funny, and satisfying, karma.

A truer statement has never been made.

Conservatives cannot understand this.

See what happens when government works for the good of a nation as a whole. Not exclusively for the fat cats as the Republicans do here in the U.S.

Give a poor person a tax cut and he spends the cash straight away. Good for the economy.
Give a rich person a tax cut and he sends it to Panama and says "thank you kindly".
