Israel/OPT: Investigate apparent extrajudicial execution at Hebron hospital | Amnesty International

"Eyewitnesses report that a large group of Israeli soldiers and police entered the hospital at 2.43am disguised as Palestinian civilians, with some wearing keffiyehs and fake beards and another being pushed in a wheelchair dressed as a pregnant woman. According to two witnesses Amnesty International spoke to, they entered a room on the third floor of the hospital where 20-year-old Azzam Azmi Shalaldah was a patient, to arrest him on suspicion of stabbing an Israeli civilian on 25 October.

When they entered the room where the patient was in bed, they immediately shot his cousin, Abdullah Azzam Shalaldah, at least three times, including in the head and upper body.

“The fact that Abdullah Shalaldah was shot in the head and upper body suggests this was an extrajudicial execution, adding to a disturbing pattern of similar recent incidents by Israeli forces in the West Bank which warrant urgent investigation,” said Philip Luther, Director of the Middle East and North Africa Programme at Amnesty International.

“Israeli forces must immediately cease their use of intentional lethal force against people who are not posing an imminent threat to life.”

“Israeli forces have a long history of carrying out unlawful killings in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, including extrajudicial executions,” said Philip Luther.

“While the number of attacks by Palestinians on Israeli civilians, soldiers and police has increased significantly since the beginning of October, there is never any excuse for the Israeli military and police forces using lethal force where it is not warranted.”

So much for due process.

No comment when Israelis are stabbed by Barbaric Palestinians yet you have the nerve to talk about " due process " lol. I say PASS OUT THE CANDY !!

So the IDF went to arrest a suspect, the cousin of said suspect pulled a weapon, and the IDF killed the man with a weapon.

Understood.

Use your brain once in a while. If they're there to make a lawful arrest they wouldn't be in disguise. Idiot. Dunno who's dumber you or Amnesty International for basing all this on 2 biased witnesses.

I think it would be prudent to wait for an evaluation of the evidence.

If this is a "set-up" --- and it is very suspiciously looking like such, THEN it would appear to be a conspiratorial effort. If the Palestinians intentionally corrupt the forensic evident before authorities have an opportunity to collect it properly, then that furthers the theory of a Palestinian "step-up" or staged crime scene.

I think I'll just wait for the results of the investigation.

Just one word, "Mista'arvim" IDF Mistaravim (YAMAS)

The two Palestinians were unarmed. But this is a sign that it is all unraveling for the Israeli Jews. Not even the white South Africans pulled this crap off when they were losing it. Unbelievable.

Challenger, et al,

If you don't believe that a valid investigation is going to be preformed, then you really shouldn't raise the issue. It merely turns the discussion into a case where the pro-Palestinians accuse the Israelis. It appears that the Israelis acknowledge their involvement in the incident.

The Israeli army confirmed the raid by Border Police and shooting and said it was carried out to detain Azzam al-Shalalda, 22, over a knife attack on an Israeli settler two weeks ago in the West Bank. Sahalda was shot by his victim but escaped, the army said.

Israeli border police detain a Palestinian during clashes in the West Bank city of Tulkarm November 12, 2015. The army said Azzam Shalalda carried out a stabbing in Gush Etzion in the West Bank last month. After stabbing an Israeli settler, he was shot by his victim but managed to escape. A military spokeswoman said he and his family, including the cousin, were known operatives of political and militant Islamist group Hamas.

An armed (with a firearm) Israeli settler in the West Bank is part of the armed occupation forces. How can a Palestinian that attacks the occupying forces be considered a terrorist? Does that mean the French Resistance were terrorists? I don't get the logic.

Sallow, et al,

"Yehudit Horowitz, 96, believed to be the last survivor of the Hashomer Militia [(the Watchman) founded in 1909], the first armed Jewish movement in Palestine."
... ... ... The Watchman was the first Jewish Militia in Palestine to adopt a policy of armed defense and self-protection as opposed to the reliance on hired Arab security. It provided the ideological and structural basis for battling Arab resistance to Jewish settlement. In 1920 Hashomer Militia was replaced by the more widely based Haganah armed movement, which developed into today's Israeli Defense Force (IDF).

Very late in the 19th Century --- and --- the impact of the (Captain Alfred) Dreyfus Affair in the 1890s, combined with the mass demonstration against the Jewish Community in France, set the conditions for the first large migration from Europe to the Middle East.

Eventually Captain Dreyfus was pardoned and later exonerated in 1906 Dreyfus of all charges. He was reinstated as a major in the French Army. But the case was the most publicized example of the anti-Semetic trends in Europe.

One (certainly not the only one) of the principle reasons for the transition in organization and policy of the Hashomer Militia morphing into the Haganah was the growing anti-Zionist and anti-British Jihadist militant organizations, the most significant of which was the 1920 Nebi Musa riots (Jerusalem), the 1916–1918 – The Arab Revolt, and the anti-Zionist movement founded by Sheikh Izz ad-Din al-Qassam called the Palestinian Black Hand. The Sheikh's stated objectives was to lead the jihad and attack Jewish settlers; and the group appeared to crystallize after the 1929 riots (and the 1936–1939 – The Great Arab Revolt). Sheikh Izz ad-Din al-Qassam and his Black Hand justified their hostile and violent effort on religious grounds --- AND --- were backed by a fatwa from Sheikh Badr al-Din al-Taji al-Hasani, the Mufti of Damascus.

The first pillar to understanding Terrorist activity and Insurgencies is that they generally grow or shrink based on the effectiveness of the focus towards addressing the conditions and the environment that are conducive to the spread or amplification of Terrorist activity and Insurgencies.

The development and growth of the various Jewish Defense militias is based on the pressures to counter the activities of the Hostile Arab Palestinians directed against Jewish immigrants and attack settlers. If there is a blame pertaining to Methods of Operation and the impact of the founding fathers of Israel, it falls squarely on the Radical Islamic Leaders like Mohammed Amin al-Husseini and Badr al-Din al-Taji al-Hasani.

So, the people from another continent that invade a place are defensive militias, and the people that resist are terrorists. Ok.

montelatici, et al,

You keep saying "people from another continent that invade." This is essentially a rationalization of an event not in evidence.

So, the people from another continent that invade a place are defensive militias, and the people that resist are terrorists. Ok.
(COMMENT)

The fact is, that the inhabitance became an unlawful insurgency against the Mandate Government established by the Allied Powers.

The Jewish Immigrants were lawfully establishing a National Home, under the authority of the Allied Powers to which the Ottoman/Turks surrendered (renounces all rights and title per Article 16). The lawful immigrants were defending against hostile Arabs attempting to subvert the stated intention by the Allied Powers to secure the establishment of the Jewish National Home.

Any force that opposes the unlawful hostile operations of an enemy Arab Forces --- with the clear intent and attempting to undermine the leadership of the lawful Allied Powers, is a "Defensive Force" by definition.

The Arab Palestinians are by no means patriots or freedom fighters, having rejected self-rule and self-government under peaceful means several times.

Rocco, there were native people living in Palestine. The Europeans went there to replace them and colonize the land. There is no legal instrument that can condone ethnic cleansing. Can't you get that through your thick skull?

montelatici, et al,

While I don't believe the original intent was to replace the indigenous population, it would appear that the hostility exhibited by the indigenous population altered their fate and change the course of their destiny.

Rocco, there were native people living in Palestine. The Europeans went there to replace them and colonize the land. There is no legal instrument that can condone ethnic cleansing. Can't you get that through your thick skull?
(COMMENT)

What was legal (or considered acceptable) at the turn of the 19th/20th Century, is considerably different then that of today. There was no ethnic cleansing involved in the establishment of the Jewish National Home. That was a catch phrase latched onto by the failed leadership long after the hostile Arab Palestinian began shaping their own future and destiny.

You cannot apply late 20th Century Theory to post-WWI era administration on matters of territorial disposition and government. Even up to the end of WWII (1946), there was a UK; one in which His Majesty The King of Great Britain, Ireland and the British Dominions beyond the seas, and the Emperor of India, had such authority to recognizes Trans-Jordan as a fully independent State and His Highness The Emir as the sovereign thereof and create a Treaty to that effect.

You learned a few words and phrases, yet don't have a clue as to how and when they are applicable. My favorite is the "inalienable rights" (rights which cannot be transferred) but have never really been defined. Even the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is not actually accepted international law.

Even your application of the term "Ethnic Cleansing" is not truly defined, although some thing the UNSC Resolution 780 comes the closest. There is no crime of "Ethnic Cleansing" in the International Criminal Code. The term you are looking for is "genocide" which is a bit different.

Neither the State of Israel or any Allied Power, had then or now, a policy of systematic forced removal of ethnic or religious groups from a given territory by a more powerful ethnic group, with the intent of making it ethnically homogeneous. That is much different from that policy established by the Arab Higher Committee in 1948, The Palestinian National Charter in 1968, the HAMAS Covenant in 1988, or the political policies of HAMAS as a member of the “government of national unity.”

(FINALLY)

The "native people living in Palestine" did not inherent sovereignty at any time in the last century. Being a native of a land in 1918 did not confer any special legal preference pertaining to sovereignty.
