Your Imagination
1. Change the Federal Income Tax Code to read:
>18% on personal income with each Citizen receiving the same $45,000 deduction.
>18% on all business income with $25,000 + payroll as the only deductions.

2. VIGOROUSLY Check ID's at the border and make sure non-citizens understand that they pay 18% on all income, there is a path to citizenship, and those caught working for ca$h, not paying their bills or convicted of felony fuck-ups will be banished for life.

Fair and simple taxes remains step 1 folks.
:smoke:

"Illegal" immigration would be a thing of the past if we simply let every everyone cross the borders on a vigorous ID check and a good understanding among guests on personal responsibility and tax liability for non-citizens.

I can get behind this IF we actually enforced it. I don't think for one moment we would "vigorously check for IDs." Hell, we can't even vigorously check IDs to vote.

Wait a minute- LET EVERYONE CROSS THE BORDER on their own good understanding??????

Yes a good understanding among guests should do it.

Perhaps a pinky swear to seal the deal.

While I like the tax idea that doesn't address people coming here and receiving medical benifits or other welfare. Not to mention voting.

That's another thing that's an easy fix. Free national photo ID cards for citizens. Non citizens should continue to have to pay for their work permits.

We already give people free Social Security Number Cards, up to 3 replacements in any given year and 10 in a lifetime. Upgrading that process to a genuine, plastic, national photo ID card wouldn't take a rocket scientist with an unlimited budget.

Maybe even use the template for Passport Cards, just make them free to all Citizens! :eusa_doh:

 True Story!

And wouldn't it be nice to have taxes off the table, much of the corruption stripped out of congress because business taxes are 18% and not up for discussion with the highest bidder, and the congressMonkeys discussing these types of details?

Step 1 remains Fair and Simple Taxes.

Step 2. Public budgets that are balanced by law.
Step 3. Transparency in all things politics.
Step 4. Build a free economy that your children can drive to the stars.

The Monkey Business needed to reach for the stars isn't rocket science, y'all. :smoke:

I think we need to get a better hold on enforcing the border, and deporting those who outstay their visas. We also need to make the visa process faster and give out more visas. Also making the path to citizenship simpler, and not something just for the very rich.

Left unsaid is what, exactly, we should do with the 10+ illegals already here. I propose that we require registration and issue visas to those without criminal records, conditional on self support (paying FIT and SS taxes without benefits) for a ten year period. (Current law requires return to home country for 10 years before applying for a visa.) Upon proof of completion (SS earnings records), a permanent visa would be issued. Failure to register or provide self-support would result in deportation, and illegal return to the U.S. after deportation would be made a felony.

We also need complete the Border Fence and develop tamper proof ID cards (probably using fingerprints).

That's optimistic and I like the way you're thinking!

All things considered however, going forward from this moment in history, publicly paid, armed security personnel, enforcing Civil Laws among guests and Citizens alike as they commingle in America, similar to what we have today but with less corruption, makes a certain practical sense.

I do like the way you're thinking though...
 To a smaller need for public resource expenditures on 'security'!

VIGOROUS checking of ID's at the door and banishment for earning without a permit and any other felony.

Simple. No fences required...

Everyone just needs to get used to having their valid, photo ID on their person when out and about, and learn to not be offended when asked by a duly sanctioned Officer of The People to produce it.

Nope.

Let everyone cross the border under a VIGOROUS ID check, turning away the proven undesirables.

12 million illegal got across the border without showing their ID because they were running through the desert. There is vigorous ID check at the border and still 12 million got in without showing ID.

How does this address businesses portion of general taxation funds required to subsidize continuing to build their business again on minimum wage workers. The numbers don't add at 45,000, I feel there's a possibility if we lowered it to 25,000 maybe. Our basic community family standards are education for the kids, or babysitting why they work. Plus, The overall impact cost of emergency don't deny service laws for band aid will always be disproportionate to low wage workers taxation. And generally the poor spend their money on food and rent. Which in itself does not inject funds in taxation to compensate for the direct benefit the businesses get from taxpayer funds providing these low wage workers from out of town.

:dunno: So maybe a certain amount of fencing ain't a bad idea.....

The point is to know EXACTLY who is here as a guest at any given moment and whether they are working or here as a tourist.

25k deduction / 45k deduction - whatever. The point is to have a tax code that is simple enough to be spelled out in a message board post and the same for everyone.

Giving congress the power to tax us differently, using complicated rules and formulas for prescribed favoritism, was a big mistake. Huge.

What ID are you blathering about which is in the possession of every potential immigrant, is eminently reliable, and contains the information required?
