Remember how CAT was going to "leave Illinois" over the increase in corporate rates?

Caterpillar’s U.S. federal income tax return for 2003 reflects far lower numbers: $4,667 in tax on taxable income of $18 million and revenue of $22.8 billion. Dugan, the Caterpillar spokesman, declined to comment on the 2003 return, which was filed as an exhibit to Schlicksup’s complaint.

Caterpillar Inc. used offshore subsidiaries in Switzerland and Bermuda to avoid about $2 billion in U.S. taxes from 2000 to 2009, boosting its earnings through a “tax and financial statement fraud,” according to a Caterpillar executive’s lawsuit.

The executives did not respond, according to his complaint. Then, in August of 2008, a human resources executive told Schlicksup that he could transfer to Caterpillar’s information technology division or leave the company, his complaint says.

The new job involved overseeing implementation of a computer system he knew nothing about, his suit claims, for less pay and a smaller bonus target. Schlicksup called it a demotion. After a meeting with Caterpillar’s human resources department, his pay was restored, according to the lawsuit, though he says the transfer out of his area of expertise makes him unlikely to be promoted.

Sounds like we need to give this CAT Executive a medal!!!

I dont see any mention whatsoever of the state bribe to keep Caterpillar in IL.
Is there some point to the OP?

Yeah, that disgruntled employees can make claims that may or may not stick...

The company, the world’s largest construction-equipment maker, sold and shipped spare parts globally from an Illinois warehouse while improperly attributing at least $5.6 billion of profits from those sales to a unit in Geneva, according to the suit filed by Daniel J. Schlicksup. He was a global tax strategy manager for Caterpillar from 2005 to 2008.

Schlicksup, 49, sued in U.S. District Court in Peoria, Illinois, in 2009, claiming he was moved to a job that limits his career opportunities because he complained to superiors that the “Swiss Structure” ran afoul of U.S. tax rules. He’s seeking a court order to give him back his old job and prevent any retaliation. He also seeks stock options that he claims were wrongly withheld as well as legal fees and punitive damages.

His lawsuit, which calls the structure a “tax dodge,” followed a request for job protection he filed with the U.S. Department of Labor under provisions of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, court records show. The law bars retaliation against corporate whistleblowers.

Is that some kind of revelation? Never happened before?
And what does it have to do with Illinois paying bribe money to keep Cat in state?

And what does it have to do with Illinois paying bribe money to keep Cat in state?

Ok....I have to ask. Just how did Illinois pay bribe money to CAT to stay? And link it please.

C'mon Rabbi. Explain this supposed "bribe" and link it please. I'm waiting.

The same governor who raised taxes $6.8 billion and has a $12 billion borrowing binge under way — even though Illinois’s bonds already are at junk status — is promising to give tax breaks to Sears. In other words, a company with no strategic plan is likely to get a big new tax break to stay in a failed real estate development with no foreseeable economic value

typical scenario .......and the outsourcing advocates claim this comes around to eventually help our economy

Many states offered CAT "bribes" to relocate but I have yet to see Illinois offer anything to stay.

Rabbi wants to slam Illinois for offering them to CAT (for which I'm still waiting for proof). And it also sounds like he views special tax breaks as "bribes" (and maybe they are) but people who live in glass houses shouldn't be casting stones.

Businesses establishing a headquarters facility in the state of Tennessee may be eligible for various tax incentives, such as sales tax credits, F&E tax credits, and more, under a new bill signed by Gov. Bill Haslam on June 16th

Now....what were you saying about Illinois offering "bribes", Rabbi???? :eusa_shhh: :eusa_eh:

Goose, If in fact they (corporatists) are looking toward the highest 'corporate welfare' bidder states , it sounds like the state of Ill hasn't much to offer because they're basically edging on bankrupcy.

Now this might keep jobs (at the tax payers expense) , but this method of trickle down does not create jobs

That corporate coffers are fairly full in America right now, and employment hasn't followed suit with it is evidence enough for any econ 101's consideration

all they'll do with the $$$ is hire more lobbyists to convince us otherwise....

The magic word is "yet." We'll see what IL coughs up.
Yeah, states offer "incentives" to companies to move or whatever. I think it sucks.

Rabbi links to an article that says nothing that he claims? Then moves the goalpost a few hundred yards by saying, well, "the magic word is "yet"".

Another day at the office for the fraud in chief. I await my next neg-rep from the Rabbi with baited breath!

Would you kindly quote, highlight or point out in the article exactly what CAT got? Because I didn't see anything anywhere in your link that says CAT got a damned thing.

I'll be waiting.......

.
Hey asshole. You got the link you asked for. Illinois state government is bribing companies to stay in-state. Even ones that are circling the bowl( Sears).
The fact that the CEO of CAT got in the ear of the Governor is enough to answer your question.
BTW, SFB, CAT has some 50+ domestic plants and ONE in China.
I should think you people would support CAT because the bulk of it's work is done here in the US.

It actually supports everything Iwrote. Unlike your links which....
Well, you never actually support any statement you make so I guess the comparison is wrong.

Then perhaps you can quote the part about the bribe Ill paid.
