Debate Now Illegals and Social Security. Good thing? Bad thing?

Okay everybody. Let's drag the train back onto the tracks here. The topic is not the virtues or lack thereof of the social security system.

The topic is whether it is a good thing to give social security numbers to legals via Presidential executive order--these would be people who would not otherwise be eligible to work under the immigration laws as written or eligible for social security under the Social Security Act rules and regulations.

The IRS and SSA are not law enforcement agencies. They need to exchange information to ensure that payments and taxes are completed correctly. If someone provides your company with an invalid SSN the IRS would not be able to calculate the taxes due and credit the appropriate SSA account.

The irs is not an enforcement agency heh? So why are 16000 new irs agents being hired to enforce obamacare or tell the person whose bank funds have been confiscated that the irs can't do it.

A: No. The law requires the IRS mostly to hand out tax credits, not collect penalties.The claim of 16,500 new agents stems from a partisan analysis based on guesswork and false assumptions, and compounded by outright misrepresentation.

Can you explain if … the IRS will hire 16,500 new agents and spend $10 billion/year to audit who has [health care] coverage. I can not find any coverage that is not from the right on this … and I have been searching for a while. Thank you.​

We aren't discussing the religious freedom act and we aren't discussing the Affordable Care Act EXCEPT as either would relate to illegals receiving social security numbers. So if you can't relate your post to some cause or effect of illegals receiving social security numbers and/or other issues specially about illegals receiving or not receiving social security, please take those discussions to another thread.
